About a month ago I’d not even heard of vlogging, and now egged on by some of my lovely readers I made one today!
I’ve uploaded it to You Tube, so if you want to see what I’ve been up to today click HERE . Hope you can understand the Yorkshire accent!
An honest opinion would be appreciated, but I’ve realised already that I won’t be giving up my day job!
I’ve never heard of vlogging, I think you’re very brave, well done, but I think I’ll stick to the written word, it’s bad enough having my photo taken 🙂
Aye, Margaret, but when you’re holdin’ the camera, you don’t have to appear… 😉 Love your blog, by the way!
Brave and daft, lol 🙂
Well done! Great to hear your voice! That yarn looks interesting.
Thanks! It’s made from recycled jersey and is knitting up really quick with the huge needles 😀
Ali, it’s fantastic! LOVE IT! Your “golfing voice” as you started off is wonderful & quiet. And the scenery is BEAUTIFUL! (Even that running water – hehee!) Your latest V 8055 is going to be fab ~ can’t wait to see it finished! And your… er, “that package” … will enjoy seeing what that’s for as well.
Well done, you ~ a star is born! xxx
Hi Del, glad you like it! Sorry I missed you last night – my phone was on charge and I didn’t see you message til bedtime. I’m about tonight 😀
Relaxing after today’s fabric hunt. Hopefully, will natter Wednesday!
You’re a natural I think!
Thanks, think maybe my editing skills need attention, but never mind 😀
It was lovely to hear your voice – you sounded so natural I was going to actually ask you what the wool was for. I stopped myself just in time though.
However, what is it for?
Thanks Lynn! It’s a recycled jersey yarn and it’s going to be quite a sumo,e looking top made with 25mm needles. I started last night and they’re quite cumbersome – not sure I could tackle those big blankets that you make! 😀
Aha! Sherlock-like, I have had a nose at their website now and seen what you’re up to. They’ve got some fun stuff on there. I like what you’re making but I hope you’re going to wear your vest underneath 😉
Haha! I will in Yorkshire but I might not when i go to Portugal 😎
Great, Ali! I was stuck in the office, and the weather was so lovely for your golfing. I liked seeing what you were making, vlogging gives a really good perspective on your fabrics . That wool looks interesting. I am starting a Miette, hopefully it will work out, I have given up on the last few things I’ve started knitting.
I think we get spoilt with our sewing as its made quickly whilst knitting takes forever. This is a super quick make though and huge 25 mm needles so hopefully I won’t get bored before its finished. 😀
I really enjoyed watching your vlog. It is so nice to see your current project in a more realistic setting than a photograph can ever give you. Looking forward to seeing the finished garment. Loved your accent.

Thanks Debbie – the Yorkshire accent is a strange one I think. Sometimes when I hear myself I think I sound a bit thick!! But I’m not, honest!! 😀
How exciting! You did a wonderful job. I would love to get up the nerve to get started on periscope with mini videos. I’m so inspired!
Periscope would be great for you and seeing all your bags in ‘real life’!
Haha! When you said you wouldn’t put the camera on you because you were knackered, I thought you said “naked”!!! Almost spit out the wine I’m drinking! Guess I need to learn to hear better! Love from Arkansas!
Haha, that’s funny! The naked vlogger- I bet that would be more popular that mine, but not of a 44 year old women!! 😳
Accent perfectly understandable (but i was born in Northumberland) and good to see what you are up to in a different way. Good luck with the knitting – it knits fast on huge needles but they hurt my hands/wrists. Can’t wait to see your top.
the huge needles are a bit crazy to handle – but it grows so fast I don’t think I’ll be at it for long! Northumberland is such a beautiful part of the world, I’d love to move up there 🙂
I am a southerner your accent was fine! Nice to see I am not the only one who hides my purchases!
I did end up getting the knitting out last night and doing a bit! He was so shocked by the size of the needles he was too speechless to say anything else! 🙂
That is a good tip! lol
Well done. I’ve not dared vlog – although I keep wondering about podcasting. No worries about you accent, I’m a southerner and I completely understand you – although you do have a southern accent when I read your blog. Loved seeing the fabric on video, better and more intriguing that pics. You were very funny too talking about the golf – so maybe a career as a stand-up comedian?
Hahaha, maybe! I could practice on my patients at work…the deaf ones!! lol If they think I’m funny I’mm onto a winer! Glad you liked it, but I think maybe I did waffle on a bit too long!! 🙂
I’m sure just like blogging it will change and grow with you. Definitely a good start. As for practising on your patients, I’m now seeing you screaming up in your ambulance and saying, ‘I’ll only take you to hospital if you laugh at my jokes.’
😂😂😂😂😂😟😟
Ignore the last 2 faces!! 😳
Ali, that was such fun going along golfing with you. Now you know that I’m not a knitter….but holy cow, those needles are enormous, how in the world do you manage them? The jersey yarn looks interesting, as does the lacy top. And the linen is scrumptious. So nice to hear your voice, now when reading your blog we’ll be able to hear you speaking to us!
The needles do take some controlling! A bit too cumbersome but seen as I’m making something for me I’ll struggle on!! Glad you like the Yorkshire twang – might ‘ave to type in a yorkshire accent too! 🙂
I love this Ali! I watch blogs on YouTube more than I watch normal tv 🙂 There’s something more personable about them. Still got to find some crafty/sewing vlogs to watch though – do you watch any? I’ve also thought about vlogging but I don’t know if I dare yet! Yours appeared to be really natural – can’t wait to see your finished makes 🙂
I think it was natural cos I started videoing without thinking about what I was going to say and just waffled on – which is what I’m like in real life…just waffle on! Not sure if I’ll do another though.
The only ones I’ve really seen are the ones on SewOverIt, and the odd tutorial on you tube, but not seen any others.
Give it a go – you can alway delete it if you don’t like it! 🙂
Awwww! You sound exactly like I’d imagined! Lovely scenery at the golf course!
It was a bit scary but didn’t want to put on any airs and graces on! 🙂
We left Yorkshire when I was 10, to migrate to Australia. Your voice brought memories flooding back. I played it to my kids saying, “I used to sound like this!” So lovely to hear the Yorks again.
Aw, that’s lovely, glad it brings back memories. 😃
Well done for plucking up the courage to do a vlog! I’m so impressed! Has your hubby found out about your naughty purchase yet? (I mean your knitting 😉)
Yes, i couldn’t resist getting started that evening, but I think it all just went over his head as he cant keep track of what I’m making! 😃
He he! I can’t get away with anything in this house!
I watched it! Very cool!! I love all your fabrics.
Thanks Abi! Have you thought about doing one? I bet you’d be good at it 😃
I would love to….thank you for suggesting that! 😊 I’m not sure if my parents would let me, but I’ll see😊
Such cute accent! That linen goes really well with the stripy fabric, looking forward to seeing the finished garment and of course the knitted project. Those needles look huge.
Thanks! The needles are huge, and a bit if a handful. They’re noisy too with the wood clacking when hubby’s trying to watch tv!😃
Loved your vlog Ali! I watched it one morning before school and set off to work with a smile 😊
Thankyou! Maybe I should do a weekly one to help banish Monday morning blues 😃
You sound exactly like I thought you would! I can’t see me doing the blogging thing though – just another thing to try to find enough time for. You’d be disappointed if you were expecting a Somerset accent, too:)
You’re super busy I don’t know how you fit in what you do, do you’re right there. If we get down to Taunton I’ll hopefully meet you in real life, you’ve got me curious about your accent 😀
