Now I don’t know what to do with it!
Last weekend we stayed in a cottage in Seahouses, Northumberland to celebrate my mums birthday. I couldn’t take my sewing machine so I took my crochet hooks instead!
I made another head warmer (my 3rd I think) and I’ve used the band as the ribbing on a hat too.

A new hat for my mum – I made most of this during the 2 hour drive, and finished it off watching telly later in the evening. The ribbing is the head band.
On Tuesday I wore my blue one to play golf and one of the ladies asked if I’d followed a pattern. I hadn’t. I’d just made it up as I went along. I’ve written a proper pattern out now, so if anyone wants to have a go it’s really easy. Leave me a message and I’ll email it to you. I need to put it somewhere like Ravelry but I’ve not worked out how to do that yet! Watch this space!!
PS I’ve only been crocheting just over a year and I love it!!
UDATE! PLEASE CHECK OUT THIS BLOG POST FOR THE PATTERN!
Well done, you! Looks like a good, sturdy pattern that will resist a nasty wind!
Please send over the pattern – or post it here, if you’re comfortable doing that.
Maaany thanks, in advance! xx
Hi Del, I’ve sent it! Can’t wait to see how you get on with it! x
Looks good, I particularly like the greens, but I have an irrational crochetingphobia.
Haha! It’s not so bad! Is it that you can’t learn or you really don’t fancy it?
I think crochet makes me feel how maths makes lots of other feel. I get all confused and it makes no sense and goes wrong. Knitting on the other hand, no problem with that.
See what you mean, I keep thinking of trying to have a go with the crochet charts so I can visualise better what I’m doing.
Oh they look so good, the one with the bobbles is my favourite. Great colours. I started crochet about a month ago and I’m hooked haha!!
I love it! I’ve not tackled a proper garment yet, but i’m hoping to this year.
I learnt a lot from this website which I stumble across:
http://newstitchaday.com/crochet-stitchionary/
It has a video for every stitch under the son, it’s slow and easy to follow and really help me to learn to read patterns too.
Good luck!
That site is awesome thank you very much for sharing xx
You’re welcome!
Have a go at the broomstick lace, it’s fab! I ended up with loads of samples trying out a few short rows of different patterns. X
Well I am impressed! I don’t crochet. I tried knitting and my scarf was 6″ on one end and 12″ on the other (it wasn’t supposed to be). You should put your pattern out there!
Once you get the hang of it crochet is easier than knitting. I’ve not been at it long and I’m hooked (boom boom!). The Craftsy class is worth doing if you fancy learning! And you could do it whilst commuting!
Oh! I didn’t think about Craftsy. I’m always to pre-occupied with their sewing classes. Maybe next time they have a sale I’ll check.
Oh I love them! I love a good hat! I’m not sure my crotchet skills would get me one of those tho!!!
Go on, give it a go! Shall I send you the pattern? It’s proper super easy!
Yes! sewdpeuty@gmail.com!!
