Winter

Joining in with Wild Daffodils photo challenge. A different word each week for a whole year.

#photochallenge 320

Both of these pics were taken on a day out to Ripley Castle in North Yorkshire. It’s a beautiful place to visit at any time of the year.  I tried to narrow it down to one photo but couldn’t (this won’t be a surprise to anyone who ‘knows’ me).  I could have added another 20 it was such a fab day.  From the size of H you’ll probably guess it wasn’t this winter. I think it was about 3 or 4 years ago.

Head over the Wild Dafodil’s blog (link above) where she’s linked up with the 3 others who’ve created this challenge. I’m posting from my iPhone so it’s a bit harder to do link ups from here.

I sew and play golf. I blog about my sewing as I don't think you'd want to read about my golf. It's bad enough watching it on telly! Contact me via email - Thimbers.blog@gmail.com

  1. Love the photo of H (and deer!), but thought at first he was thee.
You share the same facial shape & infectious good humour! ❄️❄️❄️

    • It’s funny I can’t see it but a lot of people say we look alike. He does have a lot of me in him with his personality. He’s not quiet! 😀

      • How interesting you don’t see the likeness, but have heard others in similar situations say the same. You’re not alone!. 😀 Was thinking about you last night whilst watching one of Greggs’ programmes from a couple years ago,“More Than Meats the Pie.” I understand all the accents, but the speed astounds me! Had to have a bit o’ toast & jam after… lol!

  2. Great photo of H, I haven’t been to Ripley Castle for years, though Sir Thomas Ingilby is coming to our WI in June to talk about running an estate!

  3. Ah, the joy of a child playing in the snow. I remember the days so well. And your second photo is very engaging…talk about eye contact. Great contrast in both.

    • My husband spotted the deer over a wall – he’s a foot taller than me. I think the commotion of me climbing up to see and take a photo must have distracted them from their lunch!

That’s such a great picture of H. He looks so happy and carefree! And SO much younger – reminds me how quickly they grow up! My youngest is about that age now!

    • We had a lovely day out, I could fill a book with photos from that day! It’s a lovely age.. You’re up a bit early, whilst I’m counting down the last hour of my night shift 💤💤💤💤💤

  5. Such wonderful winter photos. I love H’s expression – he is having so much fun! And the deer seem to be wondering if you’re going to interrupt their munching.

    • It was exciting wasn’t it, and as kids we never felt the cold! I’ve still got the proper wooden sledge that my dad made us as kids. It’s so big and heavy it’s a wonder it would go! 🙂
