Sharing the Liberty Love

This morning over my first cup of coffee at work I was checking my emails and saw one from Liberty and immediately clicked the link to view their new Iniqlo Collection – everyday clothes made with their scrumptious fabric that we all regularly drool over.

I hardly ever buy clothes – either the qualities naff or it’s too expensive, so unless it’s a bargain or I really couldn’t make it myself I don’t buy it.

Within  5 minutes of browsing the new Liberty collection I had 6 things in my basket!!

What does that tell you?!?!

The prices are so reasonable I honestly think they must have priced all the garments wrong!

I couldn’t really justify buying everything in my basket, so removed the linen shirt, the jeggings, the shirt dress and the tunic and just bought these 2 garments…..

A hoodies for £19.90

And a maxi dress with bra support for £29.90
Like we’ve all said hundreds of times “I couldn’t make it for that”!

I once bought 2m of this fabric from Liberty and it’s still in it’s virgin state –  I’ve wrapped in tissue paper in it’s cute little Liberty bag that it came in.

So when I say I couldn’t make it for that I really really couldn’t – even if I bought the fabric I wouldn’t dare cut into it!
If you want something to drool over whilst you have your morning coffee hit the image below and it’ll take you straight there – you’d best go get your purse first!

Happy shopping, and let me know if you succumb to the temptation!

I sew and play golf. I blog about my sewing as I don't think you'd want to read about my golf. It's bad enough watching it on telly! Contact me via email - Thimbers.blog@gmail.com

I know what you mean about Liberty fabric, I literally fawn over it every time I see some. I’m amazed at the prices of those two items that you purchased, as you say, there is no way you could make it any cheaper. The hoodie is lovely and the dress is going to be fabulous when the warmer weather arrives. Well done on being so firm with yourself, I’d have wanted all of the items I’d put in my basket.

    • I’m feeling quite pleased with myself for being so restrained, though I think the hubby won’t think I have been! 😀

  2. Love liberty fabric – can’t believe I missed this – thanks!

Like you I have a couple of packages that I can’t bear to cut into, but I am currently on a mission to make something with all of my fabric stash, so I keep thinking about what I can make with it… the thinking has been going on for two years! lol

    • This collection only came out last night and in store today, I’m sure at these prices it will all soon be gone. Have you decided what you’re going to make with your Liberty yet? I think I might make some pjs with mine as they’ll get lots of wear and I’ll feel really posh in them! 😀

      • After seeing all those gypsy tops at the museum I have a mind to make one of those, just can’t quite bring myself to cut it up! PJ’s would be fabulous!

Love the hoodie, just had a look at the collection and they are already out of stock for a few things, I quite like the shirt dress but am too tight to part with the cash. My son bought me some liberty fabric for my birthday in October, from the shop, apparently he gets 10% discount through work, and like you I was scared to cut into it but eventually bit the bullet and made myself a version of Tilly’s Bettine dress, it feels lovely & soft. I might have a go at making a version of the shirt dress out of the other piece. As a heads up to people Handmade Jane has a competition to win 1.5 metres of liberty to win closing date is 20th of March. Also, lovely Fabworks sell liberty at around £11 per metre, which is still expensive in my book but half the price of the actual Liberty shop price. I still haven’t spent my winnings but can’t buy it online sadly.

    • Thanks for the heads up over at hand made Jane, I’ll take a look. How come you can’t spend it online? Do you mean just for the Liberty? 😀

      • Sam says

Yes, the liberty isn’t on their website, not a problem though, there’s plenty to choose from!

    • Oh lovely. I didnt know this place existed. Just checked out their Facebook page and I will plan a trip sometime in summer I think. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Ooooo – good for you as those 2 pieces are lovely!!!!!
I have 1 tiny yard of Liberty I’ve been waiting for summer to make up. Over here Liberty’s over $30 (£20) a yard, and sale price is just a bit under (mine was sale).
Am going to check out these suggested places… online, unfortunately. 😉
Let us know when your package arrives! xx

    • You tiny yard made me smile Del – aren’t all yards the same? It’s over £20 here unless you catch it in the sale. I’m not sure if what’s sold in other shops is the real McCoy or seconds as I’ve not bought it. 😀

      • Lol! My bad! I shoulda written, compared to a metre, a yard is smaller… or some such. Ah. Seconds. Sometimes I’ve wondered the same thing. 😉

  5. Love the Maxi dress😍. The prices are reasonable, surprisingly. You will show us pictures of you wearing them?x

      • A maxi dress (same colour as yours), a short dress and a pair of silly wide shorts for use as p.j.s. Oh, and a bundle of ‘worn and washed’ strips of Liberty fabric to make a small quilt. I went just a little bit mad.

        • You’ve really splashed our! Strips….?!?! I never saw them!! I’ll be going back!! I think the prices were too good to miss, I’m sure they must be wrong. £19 for a hoodie anywhere would be cheap! 😀

          • Well the strips are quite expensive but they are tana lawn. I bought a bundle when I was in London a couple of years ago and I just joined them together and made a really nice small quilt fairly quickly. Instant Liberty and quilt gratification.
I love the fabric you have squirrelled away and I imagine you probably get it out for a little stroke every so often.
I have quite a Liberty tana lawn stash as our one and only local fabric shop carries a limited stock and used to include it in their twice yearly 50% off sale so, of course, I stocked up.

Ohh, dangerous post this! May have to check out the hoodie. You’re right, you couldn’t make it for that price ☺

    • I bet even in primarni you could get a hoodie for much less than £20! Put kettle on, grab your purse and enjoy! 😀

Some pretty things there, but unfortunately (or, as far as my purse is concerned, maybe fortunately!) their definition of ‘XL’ is not the same as mine! Sizing is one of the main reasons I make my own clothing.

    • I’ve ordered large but they’re a bit vague about the actual sizes. it says runs true to size but gives no actual measurements!! Fingers crossed they’ll fit 🙂

      • Fiona M says

well, of course, you are a lot smaller than me – especially since you started all that running malarkey!
