Crikey!! Where do I start!!

I’ve finally done it! Will it be the best £4.99 ever spent? Or will I just end up drooling over the photos?
I’ve bought my first Burda Style magazine and am just about to trace off the pieces for these shorts…..

My Yasmin Yoke skirt pattern is the only one I’ve used where I’ve needed to add seam allowances, but as I have 3 wonderful skirts to show for my trouble the memories have disappeared from my mind. Mmmm…probably not dis-similar to child birth!

So here we go, let’s find the pieces…..

Gosh!

Hopefully in the near future I’ll be able to show off my spotty version…. Here’s my fabric for a hopefully wearable muslin – it’s dark cerise pink but doesn’t show up too well in the photograph.

Wish me luck! Hope I get to the cutting out stage. At least that will mean I have the pieces!!

I sew and play golf. I blog about my sewing as I don't think you'd want to read about my golf. It's bad enough watching it on telly! Contact me via email - Thimberlina.blogATgmail.com

  1. I must have getting on for 40 magazines, as after buying one I could not resist their multi-pattern lure… And in over 3 years of buying them I’ve made a total of 2 garments from them. Haha – I just know you’re going to beat that with this single issue!

    • Lol! It just depends how the shorts go. I’ve just finished my pieces, all cut out. There’s only 5, they are all small, and I’m almost cross eyed with just them. Can’t image tracing and cutting out more than 5, especially if they were something big!
      ….but you never know! 😃

  2. You get faster at the tracing the more often you do it! One thing that can help is to highlight the size that you want to trace with a marker first so it’s easier to see through the tracing paper. Yes, you’re marking on the pattern sheet, but it’s yours anyway and if it reduces tracing errors so I think it’s definitely worth it if you’re having trouble with the tracing process.

    • I ended up being the biggest size so wasn’t too bad. One of the benefits of not being skinny! 😀

  3. These are a really nice style – I do like your spotty fabric! I am considering some shorts from Burdastyle website so I will be interested to see how you get on!

    • They’re finished and I’m pleased with them. Wore them yesterday, will hopefully post them in the next day or so. 😃
