Thank goodness for Sunday Sevens! If it hadn’t been for them lately my blog would be feeling well and truly neglected. Hopefully I’ll get up to date this week – it’s might birthday week and I’m only working one day so should have plenty of time!
Without getting ahead of myself though, here’s my last week in seven photos:
1 Look what I stumbled across! A new shop just down the road!! I took my mum to work and as I passed a shop which has been emptied for about 10 years I spied rolls of fabric. Hand brake turn!! Well almost! A screech of brakes at least!! I found this Aladdin’s Cave of craftiness! Its Dolly’s Craft Corner in Wibsey and it’s only been open a few weeks but they’ve been trading on Ebay for a few years so some might have heard of them. Click HERE to see their ebay shop, and if you’re local pop in – they’re really lovely and friendly, and will be having crafty sessions and lessons there soon! Here’s the address for those who might want to pop in…. 46-48 ODSAL ROAD, BD61AQ Wibsey. It’s only 5 minutes from Jun 26 of M62 if you want to get an idea of where it is.
I managed not to buy anything, but only because it took me by surprise and didn’t have much cash on me!
2 Lunch date with a lovely friend who lives on my street but it’s ages since we had a proper catch up! I had a chicken club and creme brûlée! Yum Yum!
3 Some sights locally – I’ve taken these whilst walking off above chicken club sandwich and skinny fries! First the duck pond. Not too good a photo showing the ducks but they are the fattest most fed ducks anywhere and never coming charging over wanting bread.
4 There’s a farm on the busy main road, they have 2 shetland ponies and 2 donkeys. These are also very well fed, hence the donkey’s are being a bit shy in the back ground.
5 More wild life. At the back of the ambulance station is the local library and we have a high wall between us. I spotted a robin through the window. He’s a bit small in the photo as I daren’t get too close in case he flew away!
6 A new top! Remember the pink striped drapey Lekala one? Well I whipped up another in this remnant I picked up from Girl Charlee. The back’s plain black as I didn’t have enough of the patterned fabric. Only took an hour! Won’t be blogging it as there’s not much to say except I love it!
7 My bike! I’d brought it into the house ready for an early start on Saturday and Sunday morning. In my quest to get fit I decided to cycle the 7 miles to work. This is something I’ve not done in the last 18 months. Hubby was on stand by to pick my up in case I couldn’t face the ride home after a 12 hour shift, but I’m pleased to say I managed it both days!
Feature Photo – all the way from America! Martin, my bestie, is over there celebrating his birthday with his partner. He sent my a pic of his birthday breakfast and I wanted to share it with you!
Sunday Sevens? 7 photos from your week, or my week, or anyones week! It started off being Natalie’s week and we’re all joining in! Fancy joining in too? Head over to Natalie’s blog and join in too!
A lovely week – love the wildlife you’ve included this week! I’m very impressed with the cycling you’ve got done too, well done you…I actually took my bike out of the box it was shipped across in this week! Not ridden it yet though :-0
All the fitness lark is getting in the way of my sewing tho, I need to get a bit organised. Can’t imagine cycling in the wrong side of the road…. Good luck! 😃
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday dear Ali,
Happy Birthday to you!
(And maaany more!) xx
🎈🎂🎈
Aw, thanks Del xx
I thought they were square ducks. Should have gone to Specsavers.
Lucky you to have such a yummy looking fabric shop close by. That will make inroads into your overtime!
Haha…do they have spec savers in France!? 😂
Happy Birthday week. Well done on the biking. Love the top, envious of the sani and grateful for the heads up on a new shop. Looks good on eBay but even better in the photo. Have a good week K xXx
It’s amazing in real life. I asked if I could take the pic tho, did want want the bloke to think I was some sort of weirdo, lol! 😀
Happy Birthday, lucky you having such a nice fabric shop on your doorstep, though dangerous too…;-)
Lovely, new top too, looks like a useful one.
Yea, it’s a bit too close and open 6 days a week! Useful for bits & bobs, and luckily not big on dress making fabric, phew!
Happy Birthday Ali and that’s a lovely new top!
Thanks Trisha 😀
Happy birthday! Fabric shop looks interesting, I’ll have to investigate that one. I’ve not tried Lekala patterns yet, your top looks lovely.
Lekala’s definitely worth a look. Maybe try out one of the free patterns first – there’s a few to choose from. And you’ll love the crafty shop – there’s all sorts!
Wow, that’s two fat ponies :O Happy birthday-week!!
Thanks Tina! They are a bit chubby aren’t they – maybe I should ask if they want to come out running with me! 🙂
How thoughtful of them to open a fabulous shop in time for your birthday – hope you got some birthday money to spend in there! Keep up the good work with cycling to work, impressive stuff. Great top too, good idea to make the back plain so you had enough fabric to complete it:)
I did get a little bit of money but I’ve a black tie do next month and think I’m going to use it to buy some fabric to make a new frock, or maybe another jumpsuit! Bit reluctant to start in case a lose another inch or 2, though judging by the amount of birthday cake I’ve eaten I don’t think that’ll be too much of a worry!
Wow that shop looks beautiful! What a find!
Have to comment on the meat in your sandwich… Wow!! 😀
Your top looks lovely, you know what suits you 🙂 well done on the cycling too 🙂
Thanks Beth – the sandwich was stunning…think it was the addition of belly pork that made it so lovely. It’s not something I normally cook at home.
Happy birthday week and congrats on the new shop! Lovely pictures as always and I love all the stone buildings and Shetland ponies–not something you see here. Great job on the cycling to work!
I think we get a bit spoilt here with Yorkshire stone been used to build so much and take its’ beauty for granted.
Happy Birthday!!!!!
Thankyou so much! 🙂
Happy Birthday!!!!!!!
Well done on the cycling – I was worrying when I saw that sandwich and fries. Unfortunately I’m looking like those ponies following my holiday!
I’ve heard the portions are a bit on the large side in America but I’m sure you’r not! 😉
They are, but I wasn’t too naughty most of the time. However, apart from the day we hired bikes in Monterey, I did zero exercise and still ate more than I should. I’ve put back on what I lost before we left. Walking Mr Hicks used to keep the weight off, but he’s just not up to those walks any more, so back on the bike next week!
Happy Happy Birthday!! Love the top, by the way. That fabric store is very nice — lovely bolts, accessories, great colors everywhere, especially the bunting! (See? I’m always paying attention.) 😉
Thankyou! I just love bunting! It just gives the impression of a happy place. That reminds me I need to get on with my christmas bunting! (I never doubted for a minute that you weren’t paying attention, lol) 🙂
🙂
Happy birthday to you too! Some great photos this week. I love your new top!
Thanks Corrine! And if I get fed up of it I can chop it up and use it to make another VNA top! 🙂
