#SundaySevens 98 – A Double Bill

Hi Folks! Gosh!  What’s happening to me!  This healthy active lifestyle is certainly getting in the way of me and my sewing machine.  And my blogging.  But behind the scenes I’m still snapping away at the picks and now I’m only ONE pound off my target weight I’m hoping to get back to sewing more, especially as I really need some new clothes. So what’s been happening….. The start of Me Made May meant I needed something me made for golf so found one of the hubby’s golf tops in the charity bag and did a quick refashion….here’s before… Bluebells everywhere at the moment…… These were at the side of the 10th green. I’ve been helping out with the ladies taster sessions at the golf club.  If you’re not far away it’s not too late to have a go.  All free and equipment is provided. I decided totally out of the blue to go for a run.  I’d not run for over a year so I was both surprised and pleased when I did 5K …

#SundaySevens 97 – Sunshine Edition

It’s a double bill and there’s been lots going on, including my long awaited ladies trip to Portugal.  If you’ve never thought of playing golf, it’s worth learning to play just to come on our trip! 2 weeks ago H was on school holidays.  Here he is with cyber mom, she had to stand on a chair to give him a kiss and for a minute I thought she was going to fall off!  And look she’s wearing my favourite Coco that is now hers. And then we all went to play golf. (us, not cyber mum!)  H played with the juniors in their comp and came 2nd and played 3 under his handicap – which is a first.  He was really pleased. And then it was soon time for some last minute pampering before my holiday…nothing like a glamorous foils shot to keep it real! If you’ve been following the Tour De Yorkshire this weekend and know where abouts I live you might have realised that it’s only been a couple of miles away, and there’s …

#SundaySevens 98 & An Impromtu Meet Up with NanaCathy

Happy Easter from a wet and chilly Yorkshire! Hope your tummy’s aren’t full to bursting from all the chocolate!  This is the first year I’ve not had an Easter Egg of my own, but I admit to helping H out just a little bit when he looked to be struggling with his. On Monday we had a cool, dry start to the week and I managed to get H’s white’s washed and dried so they’re nice and fresh for the start of the cricket season. Tuesday I threw a chunky chilli together and left it simmering in the slow cooker and went to play golf.  And I only went and won the competition! Do you remember the Simplicity 1696 amazing fit trousers I made last year?  Well, they’re now golfing shorts to be worn in Portugal for my holiday this week!  They would be too short to wear at my home club but abroad the dress code is more relaxed. On Wednesday my mum and I dropped H and his girlfriend at Flamingo Land and then …

#SundaySevens 97

Hello!  These weeks are just flying by,  I can’t believe it’s nearly Easter.   I’m a bit late this week with my Sunday Sevens, I feel any later than Wednesday and I should add it to next week, so here goes before it’s too late!   Monday was a gorgeous start to the week with high temperatures and lots of sunshine.  My favourite stand by point is back open on Gas Works Lane, Elland Bridge.  This has been closed since the Boxing day floods of 2015 when the river behind came right up and over the wall and caused massive devastion in the Calder Valley.   I managed to fit in 3 Body Pump classes this week which really get the heart rate up and help to tone the muscles!  I do other classes too but this is my favourite! Pre-washing some fabric I’m reviewing for Minerva Crafts.  I’ve actually finished my make and the review will be on their site shortly. Lots of colourful primroses bordering the putting green are making me feel like …

#SundaySevens 96 And We Have A Winner or 2!!

Well, I finally gotten round to doing my Carol Vorderman bit and added up the total mileage of how far everyone travelled to the #sewdowndewsbury meet up.  And I was absolutely flabbergasted!  Even before the 808 miles from Chris who came from Germany were added you guys travelled 1,111.2 miles!!!  So in total that’s…….. So the UK winner is Cathy from nanacathydotcom who guessed 1876, so she was only 43.2 miles under, and doesn’t live too far away herself so hopefully we’ll meet up at a future sewing gathering. Last year Sam won the competiton and this year she came, so you never know! The international winner is Rachel, all the way from Malaysia, who blogs at SewSouthLondon. Rachel’s guess was only 54.8 over … 1974. Well done ladies!!  If you email me your addresses I’ll arrange for your goodie bags to be posted off to you!! So now on to what else happened last week……included some sewing.  I’m a bit worried that you’ll think I’ve given up the sewing blog in favour (or should it be flavour) …

#SundaySevens 95

No Monday morning blues here this week! Monday was an early start as we headed to North Lincolnshire for a golf break.  The hubby beat me both days!!! I opted for a healthy breakfast in the hotel.  This is so hard when we go away as I just love all the pastries. I lost 3 balls in 3 different water hazards!  This was worse than beaten by the hubby! I think I need to call the fashion police! (Cyber mom’s going to kill me for this!  Or at least have my guts for garters!! – one of her sayings! 🤣) But how fabulous is her kitchen looking?!  Helen (sewing and golfing buddy pictured further down) came around last week to re-measure me.  I’ve since started work on some new blocks. My new favourite breakfast. 40g  of oats mixed with a sachet of options chocolate drink (or any low calories chocolate instant choc drink), then add a little boiling water to make a cheesecake style base.  Allow to cool.  Add 150g of 0% fat greek yoghurt, followed by your choice of …

The week started off a little different to most people’s – driving home to bed at 6am whilst everyone is driving to work.  Even though I was shattered I just had to pull over and snap this amazing sunrise. It looks a little distorted as I used the panoramic setting so I could fit in as much as possible. Sue being introduced to her new toy – I’ve leant here my old overlocker. I have a pile of clothes that are getting too big so I made a start on altering them to fit…. The naked chef.  What is it about teenage boys feeling the need to bare their chest!? He made a mean stir fry…. At the golf club the 19th has been refurbished and new prints put on the wall.  The one on the left is one of mine!! Daffi’s on the course….. And on Wednesday the hubby took the day off work only to be thrashed on the golf course and had to buy me lunch. We were able to eat al fresco, it …

#SundaySevens 93

Hello! Another busy week, and if I don’t pull my finger out I’ll end up doing a double bill next week, so here we go!  Before I do though, I’ll just mention the ‘feature photo’ – our village has a soft furnishings/curtain shop and I’m just loving the Spring window display! Monday I popped into Leeds for a pre cricket season cricket lunch with a lovely lady who I met through H playing for Yorkshire.  Look at this for a healthy choice in a burger place!!  What is happening to me!? Though I don’t shop for clothes I enjoyed browsing and getting some inspiration for my summer wardrobe. I fell in love with this top/jumper…… And also this dress……… Tuesday it was a gorgeous day (7 degrees!) and I played golf for the first time this year without a wooly hat! Wednesday Sue had her 2nd proper sewing lesson and started making her first Cleo. She took it home and finished it, made another and bought fabric for 2 more!  (oh to have those legs!! – maybe …

#SundaySevens 92

I thought this week would be a bit flat after the excitement and build up to last weeks meet up, but it’s been anything but! My week started out much like a normal person’s.  By a normal person I mean someone who doesn’t work crazy hours, and does a 9ish until 5 ish job.  I was starting at 8am.  This is just the worst for getting to work, I don’t know how you normal people cope with it everyday!   I travel on the motor way one junction on any other shift  but the M62 is so unpredicatable I just daren’t when it’s busy in case I’m late for work. So I take a few short cuts and sometimes the scenic route through the Forde.  If we have really heavy rain I don’t risk this way though, luckily on Monday it wasn’t too deep and my undercarriage got a wash!  My car’s undercarriage! Some inspiration for those trying to eat a bit healthier.  For tea I made the biggest omelette ever and had it with beans, then took left …

#SundaySevens 91 Featuring The Bronte Country

This week has all been about #sewdownsbury.  But I have managed a couple of other things.  Mainly work and healthy eating. I had to drag myself away from my sewing machine for my 10am start on Monday.  Working shifts I don’t normally get Monday morning blues on a Monday but I did last week.  I wanted to stay home and finish my moneta!  Instead I put on a big smile and headed off! I stopped at Tesco on my way home and picked some whoopsed flowers….60p!! They’ve perked up quite nicely since I took this photo over a week ago and are still going strong. 2 night shifts followed my 2 late shifts.  At 4 am as I was pulling out of the drive of a nursing home when I had my first sighting of daffies this year. I was running out of time for getting things done so I had to take my name badge to embroider on Thursday night.  Luckily I got it finished. My diet has been so healthy and I’ve been …
