In case you think I’m 5 days early for Sunday Sevens, I’m not. I’m a couple of days late. Oops! No worries, I’m sure the lovely Natalie from Threads and Bobbins who invented Sunday Sevens will forgive me, hope you will too!!
1 Hubby is reasonably well trained in most domestic tasks and does his own ironing. He dropped the iron on the lounge carpet, scorching the carpet and breaking the iron. So he went off to buy a new one. I’m quite pleased with his choice – lots of steam and quite weighty so should be just right my pressing needs!
2 My Yorkshire take on the Omelette Arnold Bennet. Replaced the smoked haddock with chicken and sweetcorn, topped with diced potatoes roasted in olive oil and garlic and a sprinkling of red leicester cheese. Served with baked beans. Lovely, yummy comfort food 🙂
3 Cut out the triangles for my Christmas bunting. I won the fabric in Natalie’s giveaway to celebrate 1 year of Sunday Sevens.
4 Apologies if you’re peckish… more yummy food. This is my mums famous chowder. Well, it’s famous in Birkenshaw and when my mum cooks a huge pan of it we all turn up with big bowls and hungry tummies. Her kitchen ends up looking like something from Oliver Twist……. “please mum, can I have some more….!”
5 Saturday’s Park Run. Before Photo. It was Tara’s (in the middle) first time doing it for real, though she’s been doing the couch to 5k this was her first 5k.
6 Tara was surprised by how hilly it was. The weather was terrible, there’s usually around 120-140 runners but today there were only 89! That says it all! We did it in 49 minutes, and cheered her all the way round. She had to pass her car 1/2 way round and we nearly lost her. She’s not been put off and is doing it again! Yay!
7 Saturday night we went to a party and left the car. So Sunday morning I had another run, another 5k and went to collect the car. It made a change to run in a different direction to normal. It looks a bit dark and dreary but this was about as good as it got last week. Luckily we didn’t get the full force of storm Desmond but it was still pretty grim.

I originally planned it for the lounge but as I’ve quite a few scraps left I’m going to hang it in the dining room/conservatory and make a table runner with the scraps (time permitting!) to match😀
So hubby replace the iron….but what about the scorched carpet?? I’ve got to make some sample bunting for one of the kid’s workshops that I’m doing on Saturday so I’d better crack on with it, I suppose – oh, why are there only twenty-four hours in a day? Well done to all of you on the run and especially to you for doing another 5k to collect the car! No hangover, I presume..?
Scorched NEW carpet! He usually does his ironing in the conservatory so bit annoyed but not gone on about it. H reminds him daily though which is quite funny. It was 11am before I set off for the car, didn’t feel too bad but took 2 paracetamol before I left, just in case! The bar was so cheap as it was a community centre – £3.77 for a pint of beer and a G&T. Hubby was slightly worse for wear the next day! 😀
Aargh! Could you cut the scorched bit out and replace with an offcut? A carpet fitter would make the join pretty invisible. I can’t believe how cheap those drinks were – my hangover would have been major:)
It’s not too noticeable, the carpet changes colour depending on the light. I paced myself for a change, usually I drink rosé like pop! 😃
One of these days I’ll get off my couch and get a move on…..your running is quite inspiring. And it allows you to eat that yummy omelette with no remorse! I had to laugh at your companion nearly veering off course at the sight of her comfy car, that would have been me. haha. Pretty Christmas village!
Previously I thought my friends were all a bit daft who were into running. But it is quite addictive once you get going, and there’s lots of clubs and events so it’s a good way to meet new people. 😀
I dropped my iron recently too – they don’t like it!
Well done with Parkrun. I still volunteered on Saturday but was tail runner – best reason to come in last 😉
Well done on doing it, tail runner or not it’s still a fab achievement. We had a lovely tail runner, but Tara didn’t know what a tail runner was and kept wishing she’d overtake us. So I explained, and then she was mortified that we was last. 😀
Yay you for doing all that running in such lousy weather! (I’m having a terrible time getting my butt outside for a walk, let alone a run.) All that yummy food is a pretty wonderful reward, though!
I’m starting to notice the difference in my body shape so it’s making it easier to keep going as I’m feeling so much better in myself. And finding out my cholesterol levels are high last week helps me step out the door too in this awful weather. 😀

What is omelette Arnold Bennett? Your version looks lovely although I like the idea of smoked haddock. Congrats on keeping up with your running, especially in this horrid weather!
I saw the omelette first on master chef, it’s so yummy, Arnold Benett was an author who always had an omelette with smoked haddock for breakfast when he was staying at the Savoy or Ritz (forgot which one!). Had some bad days out there in the rain, counting the days down to spring! 😀
Sweet village lights! Now, come on! What’s in Cyber Mum’s chowder (chowda, to New Englanders), huh??? Looks absolutely yummy, and I’m making out (yet another) grocery list…. Might take up running meself, if only on the treadmill across the way from me. 😉 But don’t hold your breath. Grand that you have such great mates to cheer on! (Sorry! Still haven’t found the local post office.)
Running would be a fab way to find your way round your new neighbourhood, and you’d make new friends too. You might stumble across the post office too, lol!! The chowder ….it’d be easier to say what’s not in it!! I’ll take some pics next time she’s making it. There’s a kitchen update in this weeks Sunday sevens – the floors gone down and it’s looking fab! 😀
Oooh! Thanks for the teasers, Mate. 😉 Can’t wait to see that kitchen make-over! As for running, walking’s always been more my style, and less high impact on the joints. All we have is concrete around here (and in most places, truth be told). At the moment, feel like I’m getting double the exercise just walking around this place, trying to figure out where things are, and where I’d like them to be. (Is that lazy or what? 😴) He-he!
I’m pounding the pavements here, except on park run days. Hopefully my knees will hold out, they’ve had an easy life til now.
And yes it’s lazy!! But hey ho, so long as you’re smiling what the heck! 😃
Hopefully, it’s just temporary sloth. Have to keep inching up, working a little harder every month or so. 😃

The carpets only a few months old, but luckily for him it’s not too noticeable. He’d have been getting a new carpet for Christmas! 😃
Congratulations that is a good time! I used to run regularly but stopped a while ago, you have inspired me, I have signed up to our local running club’s starting group in January! can’t wait.
Brilliant! I’d love to do something like that but every weeks is so different with my shifts. Would be nice to have company more often when I’m running. Good luck with it 😃

You are so good with your park running. I still have couch to 5k on my to do list.. have started walking to the school and back (1m each way) and giving the car a rest so that is a start right? Can’t wait to see the finished bunting…
That’s a fab start! I did the 10 thousand steps for a few months before I took the plunge with the couch to 5k. Might be best waiting til the weather improves 😃

That’s a good way of looking at it, getting a good balance/mix of good and exercise. I used to be fit as a fiddle a few years ago, it’s so easy to let it slide. Hopefully I’ll be able to live up to my star sign (and yours I think?!) ..libra and get back into shape 😃
