It’s all been happening this week!
Cyber mom’s birthday, 5 longs shifts, a game of golf, a step class and some sewing thrown in for good measure to keep me sane!
This was made by one of my very talented friends from the golf club. How cute – The Cinderella Topsy Turvy doll! As I’ve quite a few friends who make amazing things I’ve created a special page just for them to share their creations with you. If you follow me but don’t blog or do IG but want to share something you’ve made, let me know and I can add you to my “talented friends” page!
Freezing all the spare veg’ paid off this week when I was working! I was full to bursting and could hardly move after eating this little lot!
I’ve made a zipper pouch to home the pattern weights I’ve made for the #sewdowndewsbury goodie bag. If you’ve not let me know if you’re coming yet by filling in the form on THIS page please do so. It’ll help with working out the mileage and just keeping track of who’s coming. So far there’s about 30!
Golfing on Tuesday! A mild bright day and warm enough to not need a hat!
Happy Birthday Cyber Mom!
Cyber Mom is doing amazing shedding the pounds. She made me one of her special breakfasts. Porridge oats (raw), frozen berries and a muller light left in a tub over night in the fridge.
Catching up on last week’s dispatches on channel 4 – how shocking the conditions of some of the workers, and the pay! Or lack of it! Even more reason to make your own clothes.
Low cloud in Huddersfield……
Hubby on his second pudding at Cyber Mom’s birthday tea. We had to wait until Saturday to celebrate as me and cyber sis’ were on opposite shifts.
I spotted a new shop early this morning. On the green sign the top bullet marker it says fashion fabric! I’m not sure how promising it looks from the outside, but looks can be deceiving, so I’m hoping to be deceived next time I’m passing when it’s open and I can call in. (can I just add i’d pulled over to take the photo!)
Home from home – on my break catching 40 winks at work today.
At the top of the post is my pattern hack of the molly top from SOI. I wanted to make another Molly but am fed up of needing so much fabric. I never have quite enough when I delve into my stash. So I hacked the pattern and added the sleeve from the main body to the main sleeve, and also an inch in the width of the sleeve as depending on the fabric I’ve found it a bit snug. Molly No. 4 is almost complete. It’s my favourite so far and I can’t wait to share it with you!
Only 27 sleeps till #Sewdowndewsbury!!
See ya x
Sunday Sevens – a short blog post with seven/a few/lots of (delete as appropriate) photos from your week, invented by Natalie from Threads and Bobbins.
Happy birthday Cyber Mum! The Cinderella is so cool – I should know because I’ve also made it (one of my very early blog posts https://applebymakes.wordpress.com/2013/08/31/cinderella/ ). Those pattern weights and bag are brilliant too. I’m very envious of those!
I missed this, it must have been before I ‘found’ you! The pattern weights are fab, I’m going to hang off making some for myself, I’m hoping I get some in my goodie bag! 😃
Gorgeous week, O Lovely, Thoughtful One! That’s a fab topsy-turvy by your friend! – thank you! Hubby’s growth is looking good, as does his pud. But the piece de resistance was your sausage & veg. Yummy! (The state of our sausages over herebeing what is it…) How fab that you decided to fix/hack your top pattern so you can use less fabric. Gives one something to consider… And what a great card for Cyber Mum – there might be something for her in the postie pac… shhh! 😉
Ooo! I’ll tell her, she’ll stalk my postman when I’m working! I think the beard suits the hubby too, I’m glad he trims it, some of the fellas have grown big bushy Ines, I’m not sure I’d like that! 😃
Off safely today. Hope you locate a hanger to fit. Meant to leave wide seam allowances, then forgot. Oops. 😳 Agree with you about bushy beards!
Happy Birthday cyber mum! Looks like you had a fab couple of celebrations with her! Love the Topsy Turvy doll! Jealous of your sausages 🙂 you’ll have to let us know what the new fabric shop is like once you’ve popped in!
It’s funny how the sausages and bacon aren’t the same in the US, but you seem to have the best steaks (tho I’ve not been I’ve only heard!) 🙂
Yes our steaks are nice 🙂 but nowhere near as good as a good sausage & bacon butty!
What a lovely idea to share the talents of your non-bloggy non-IG friends. Love the purse with the weights in it. I want some now, even though we both know I’ll never use them. Hubby’s pudding looks way too healthy. And isn’t that my sausages and mash? 😉
Lol, it is your sausage n mash! I’m hoping before long my Talented Friends page will be full to brimming with ace stuff and loads of inspiration! I’m thinking that sewer inside you is dying to get out🤣
I’m sure it is, it’s just that damn knitter is such a bully!
That shop looks incredibly seedy but it must be investigated – let us know what you find.
It looks like you all made the most of Cyber Mum’s birthday and I like the look of her special breakfast although I might use Greek yoghurt instead. Are the frozen berries defrosted enough if you leave them in the fridge? I always find when you leave something in the fridge to defrost – as it always tells you to do on packets – it’s still rock hard in the morning. I will experiment.
The frozen berries were soggy by the morning. They were very tart though and made my face go a bit funny when I ate them! I bet Greek yoghurt would be just as lovely, I’m not sure why my mum uses the muller yoghurts as you can’t really taste the flavour over the fruit. Good luck with your experiments! 🙂
Hmm, that shop looks like it might be a front for something a little seedier than a simple fabric shop – where’s the window dressing eye-candy? You simply must investigate further! Belated birthday wishes for Cyber Mom. I usually find patterns can be cut out of far less fabric than the instructions suggest – how annoying that the Molly top can’t. This hack is a great idea; who needs the bother of separate sleeves anyway? Love the pattern weights and bag. I made some for my Stitching Santa but didn’t think of making a bag to store them in and feel quite guilty now. I’ve had a topsy-turvy doll on my to-do list for ages now, although it will be a sewn version for a little girl in the family. Just going to check out your Talented Friends page:)
I does look like something else, I never thought of that. I passed the other after noon after i’d been to the hospital and it was closed. I’ll continue to keep my eye out and investigate when I see it open – if I dare!! I don’t think you need to feel guilty about not making a bag for your weights, your santa parcels were overflowing with loveliness! 🙂
Love the sleeve hack! It’s always to good to have such workarounds for future reference. HAPPY, HAPPY (now belated) BIRTHDAY to Cybermum! I’m going to try her breakfast tomorrow….must set alarm tonight to set it up. Those pattern-weights-in-a-bag must be my favorite things right now. Have a happy week! 😀
thanks Jen, will do and a happy week to you too! Cyber mom says thanks for the Happy Birthday wishes xx
