The week started off a little different to most people’s – driving home to bed at 6am whilst everyone is driving to work.  Even though I was shattered I just had to pull over and snap this amazing sunrise. It looks a little distorted as I used the panoramic setting so I could fit in as much as possible.

Sue being introduced to her new toy – I’ve leant here my old overlocker.

#sundaysevens #thimberlina 1384

I have a pile of clothes that are getting too big so I made a start on altering them to fit….

The naked chef.  What is it about teenage boys feeling the need to bare their chest!?

He made a mean stir fry….

At the golf club the 19th has been refurbished and new prints put on the wall.  The one on the left is one of mine!!

Daffi’s on the course…..

And on Wednesday the hubby took the day off work only to be thrashed on the golf course and had to buy me lunch. We were able to eat al fresco, it was such a gorgeous day!#sundaysevens #thimberlina 1378

Later in the day the grass had it’s first cut of the year and H got to work cleaning the patio.

Thursday night H played in a footie cup final.  Unfortunately they lost but they were playing Drig’ who are the Man U of their league!

Friday I met a pal for lunch and resisted these beauties! I had soup, sorry not photo!  He gave me his mums sewing box, she passed away a few years ago and it needed a new home.  I’ll write a post shortly to share it’s contents with you soon.

Kiwi – I’ve taken to eating 2 of these a day, with skin!!  Apparently it makes the digestive system a bit more active!!  Sorry, probably too much information!  It’s a bit like a bush tucker trial eating your first one, but it gets easier!!

Healthy choice in the pub where they serve the best home made chips you’ve ever tasted!

More soup making….

2 huge panfuls made in about 45 minutes.  Carrot and parsnip, and kale and cauliflower.

Weight loss update: I lost another 1 1/2 pounds, that’s 9 1/2 in total and leaves me 9 1/2 to target!  Mum put 1/2 on and the hubby put one on too, but we’re all geared up for a fab week and the pounds will be melting off!  I’m cutting down on my coffee as I do drink an awful lot which really makes my milk intake too high, and I’m going to try to have a 3 pound loss this week!! …I’m dreaming of playsuits for Jumping Into June!!

Sunday Sevens – a short blog post with seven/a few/lots of (delete as appropriate) photos from your week, invented by Natalie from Threads and Bobbins.

I sew and play golf. I blog about my sewing as I don't think you'd want to read about my golf. It's bad enough watching it on telly! Contact me via email - Thimbers.blog@gmail.com

  1. Can’t wait for my son to start cooking me dinner. The signs are good judging by the things he’s brought home from school. I think I could do with taking up the kiwi eating ……. I’m not being to wonder how bad it is to eat the skin. Not surprisingly, I hadn’t considered it before!

    • H is the most enthusiastic helper in the kitchen, but he will join in and offers. I nearly always get him roped in. Have you had chance to try the kiwis yet? They’re really not so bad. πŸ˜ƒ

  2. Sorry about the footie score (know H did his bestest), and what a grand cook he’s becoming! The grass up your way looks like velvet! (Ours is dead. lol!) How wonderful of you to loan Sue your old machine ~ she’s coming on a treat with her Cleo’s. And good for you for resisting the goodies – taking in clothes should keep you thinking positive and working on those other extras. Wonderful and busy week, and hope you’re resting up for this coming one. GORGEOUS photo and congrats on being included “on the wall!” xx

    • Thanks Del! We do take out velvet grass for granted, though a lot of it has gotten brown and muddy on some parts of the golf course. Sue us doing amazing, we need to book in her next lesson, but I’m not sure what she wants to make next. πŸ˜ƒ

  3. Well done on the weight loss – you are being so good! Alterations are a bit tedious though aren’t they. All those Cleos – she’s turning into a sewing ninja!!

    • Thank you! I remember being hugely impressed by how well your hubby did and can’t believe I’m doing the same. The alterations I did were only easy takings in, anything fussy and I’ll make new! πŸ˜ƒ

      • I’ve stuck with easy takings in with my stuff! I have a couple of really nice lined summer dresses I made a while ago but I really can’t face all the dismantling – definitely quicker to make new! He’s still a slim jim – he’s not slipped back at all!

  4. You pack a lot in your weeks! Your picture looks great! How lovely to see it hanging in the golf club! Well done with your weight loss! X

  5. wow, busy as the bees, which, out here will be buzzing about toot sweet, Monday is first of spring for PNW. Ha! Moi DH is on his mower as I write this. Cheers to you for resisting those beautiful meringues! Have a beautiful week.

  6. Wow well done on the weight loss! I’ve joined a national challenge with hubby to walk 1000 miles in 2017….we are walking every day and he’s lost seven pounds so far, I haven’t lost an ounce!!
Brilliant photography too….what fab pictures in the new clubhouse x

    • Can you count the walking whilst you golf towards the 1000 mile challenge? that’s quite a task! I was really chuffed to see my photo up there, there’s another one too but the sunset is my fave πŸ™‚

  7. You really had me at kale soup and eating kiwis with skins on – that IS beyond the call of duty! But those alterations must have been the most joyous alterations ever! Silver linings, ey?!

    • Eating the kiwi whole really isn’t so bad, honest. At the rate i’m going I’ll be doing more alterations on the same garments so I think I’ll hang fire until I’ve lost what I want to loose. The thought of wearing slinky jumpsuits is spurring me on! πŸ™‚

  8. Your photo on the wall looks very professional. Has anybody asked to buy it yet? πŸ˜‰
Sue has gone Cleo mad! It looks good on her though so she might as well get her summer wardrobe off to a flying start.
I must tell my friend about leaving the skin on kiwis – I’m sure it’s fine if you slice them finely like you have – she eats them for the exact same purpose on the advice of her nutritionist but I think she peels them. So, there’s a treat I have in store for her :/
I hate alterations with a passion but it must be encouraging for you in the middle of a weight loss course.

    • How did your friend react to eating the skins… I bet she thought you’d gone made, but it’s not too bad and the results are worth it!!! No one’s asked to buy the photo, that would be cool if they did!! It never even crossed my mind. Sue’s taking her Cleos to spain this week, they’re perfect for hot weather. I might even shorten mine for when the sun comes out. πŸ™‚

  9. You are doing so well!!!! Your photo on the club house is amazing!
Surely there are other ways than eating Kiwi fruit skin! My throat is tickling at the thought of it!

    • You can’t tell the skin is furry when you’re eating it, honest! It’s just like an apple with a thick skin. πŸ™‚

  10. Four Cleos – wow, that’s impressive for a beginner! Sue is being spoiled with access to an overlocker so soon in her sewing journey, too. I had to wait years for mine. I’m going to show hubby your post as he says it’s too soon to start mowing. A fresh cut tidies up the whole garden in an instant though, doesn’t it? Love your photo on the wall, you must be chuffed to bits. Those kind of alterations are the only ones I don’t mind doing – well done on more pounds lost!

    • She really is going great guns, it might slow down a bit now the weathers picking up and she’ll be golfing a bit more, but hopefully she’ll stick with it. The grass is read for another cut already, and before we know the privets will need a trim too – I’m glad that’s not a pink job!! I was chuffed about the photo, I was so lucky to get that shot, it was a Saturday evening a few years ago, and I just happened to have my DSLR with me as I’d just bought it. πŸ™‚

  11. Love the sunrise shot and the golf club photo is gorgeous!

Your weight loss is impressive – what do you eat when you are hungry?

    • To be honest, I’m hardly ever hungry, the main time I am is when I’m leaving work so if i’ve no fruit on me I pop into the supermarket on my way home and buy a cooked piece of salmon. I’m prepping my breakfast and lunch the night before if I’m working, it’s all just about being organised really, and having loads of fruit in, and making my own soup too. πŸ™‚

    • I like it when H gets stuck in, I don’t want him to be like his dad was before I managed to train him up!! I’ve told him if he goes to uni he needs to lean to cook so it’ll be cheaper, and he’ll have more money for going out and partying!

  12. corrineappleby says

Some great photos this week but my eye was immediately drawn to those meringues and the raspberry frangipane tarts! That probably explains why you’re doing so much better on SW than me. Mind you, I also lost 1.5lbs this week so can’t complain. Many congrats on your weight loss so far. By the way, have you considered getting one of those soup makers? They’re a bit like a giant kettle and blender rolled into one. I got one for my birthday and I love it. It makes soup making a lot easier.

    • Well done on your loss too! At first i imagined i should loose 3 or 4 a week but then I’ve come to realise than the 1 1/2 i loose every week is a nice steady loss and I don’t have to starve my self to do it. I’ve got a magi mix that I blend my soups in and do 2 or 3 huge panfuls at a time so then I can stock the freezer so I don’t think I’d be able to make enough in a soup maker. πŸ™‚

  13. It definitely felt like spring was around the corner, until this morning driving through York when it was snowing! I’m truely impressed with your commitment to healthy eating but I suppose the more committed you are, the speedier it will be! Well done!

    • It’s spurring me on as I know I’ll enjoying making my clothes more, and have more choice of what will suit me. And I feel tonnes better too, probably better than I did when I stopped smoking. πŸ™‚

  14. You did well to resist those meringues – they look gorgeous. And do I see a great red stripey Molly top in there too somewhere…?

    • Well spotted! It’s a red cerise pink, and I love that one even though I didn’t get the neckline quite right. Maybe once I get to my target weight I’ll go back and treat myself to the meringues! πŸ™‚
