No Monday morning blues here this week!

Monday was an early start as we headed to North Lincolnshire for a golf break.  The hubby beat me both days!!!

I opted for a healthy breakfast in the hotel.  This is so hard when we go away as I just love all the pastries.

I lost 3 balls in 3 different water hazards!  This was worse than beaten by the hubby!

I think I need to call the fashion police! (Cyber mom’s going to kill me for this!  Or at least have my guts for garters!! – one of her sayings! 🤣) But how fabulous is her kitchen looking?!

Helen (sewing and golfing buddy pictured further down) came around last week to re-measure me.  I’ve since started work on some new blocks.

My new favourite breakfast.

40g  of oats mixed with a sachet of options chocolate drink (or any low calories chocolate instant choc drink), then add a little boiling water to make a cheesecake style base.  Allow to cool.  Add 150g of 0% fat greek yoghurt, followed by your choice of fresh or frozen berries.  Leave in the fridge overnight.

Another alternative which I’ve since made and prefer, is adding 1/2 the sachet of options to the oats then add the water as above.  Then instead of using greek yoghurt use Quark and added the other half of the options sachet to make it chocolate flavour, and then add fresh raspberries.  (Quark for those who’ve not heard of it is a o% fat cream cheese that’s full of protein).

New windows at work – it was a little draughty…

Thursday night we ate out at the Pizza Express, and H brought his girlfriend.  I couldn’t take a picture of her so here’s my healthy pizza instead.

Another healthy lunch at work -scrambled egg in kale and cauliflower soup!

I had a little treat and bought myself the burdastyle magazine.  How cool is this jumpsuit!  I have quite a collection of jumpsuit patterns now.  Is anyone else thinking of #JumpIntoJune this year?

Yesterday it was 17 degrees C!!!  So I pegged out for the first time this year.

H was out in the afternoon so spurred on by the sudden turn in the weather we went on the hunt for some new patio furniture.  And we saw this contraption……

A boat/car…..!

Today wasn’t quite the same balmy temperatures as yesterday but it was just about warm enough for us to celebrate Mother’s day lunch outside with our new furniture.

Aw…the lovely cyber parents xx

Home made chocolate orange cheesecake.

The base wasn’t healthy at all – butter and digestive biscuits.  But the topping was quark, chocolate options, chopped up mandarins, and finished with grated dairy milk and an orange segment.

And finally Helen, another one of my talented friends.  She’s just made the Simple Sew Loretta Jewel Neck dress and looks amazing in it!

Weight loss update: I lost another 1 1/2 pounds, that’s 11 pounds in total!  Mum lost 2 1/2 and got her 1 stone award! The hubby lost another one and it’s really starting to show!

Just one last thing, in case you’re wondering, I’ve not forgotten about the goodie bag giveaway and will be announcing the winners this week, and getting them posted off.  Life and golf and slimming has just got in the way of everything!

I sew and play golf. I blog about my sewing as I don't think you'd want to read about my golf. It's bad enough watching it on telly! Contact me via email - Thimbers.blog@gmail.com

  1. Sorry ’bout all the golfing woes this past week, but HUGE Happy Mother’s Day to you & Cyber Mom!!! Helen’s dress looks beautiful (so does Helen!) and H has a girl friend – wow! Good on him (and lucky her). I’m seeing greek yoghurt & getting ideas but haven’t ever heard of Quark. Will have to look for it – anything like tofu? (Probably not.) The breakfast & dessert look wonderful – thanks for the ingredients! You can’t beat a diet that has a chocky allowance. xxx

    • I’ll email you a pic of the quark, I’d never heard of it before but it’s easy to get hold of here. It’s in the cheese section of the fridges. That’s for your lovely happy Mother’s Day wishes, and I’m sure cyber mom will be saying thank you too after she’s gotten over seeing her photo 🤣 xx

      • Thanks for heading me into the right department for Quark, Lovely. Will await your pictoral example before commencing search! Hm, yes. Cyber Mom might need a bit of soothing & smoothing after that… enjoy the rest of your day!

  2. Well done to you all on the weight loss (and commiserations on the golf!)
That photo of the boat car had me doing a double take…..I used to teach the driver when he was in nursery, and his little sister the passenger!!! I feel really old now lol! I’m certain it’s them, their dad used to have a yellow amphibious car so it would make sense. Small world!

  3. Well done on the continued weight loss. Yummy recipes. Thanks for sharing. Isn’t it great to hang out!! K xXx

    • Thanks Karen! I’m worried that I night end up with a food blog at this rate, I’m cooking more than I’m sewing! 🙂

  4. Wow to all the food – very envious of the beans & bacon again! Looks like you’ve had a lovely week. Love the bike on your Mum’s wall, I’d love something like that. Well done on the weight loss too…you’re all doing fab 😀

    • The odd pound off her and there are really adding up now and I’m really feeling the difference. Not sure where my mum got the back from, I’ll have to ask her. 🙂

  5. You diet foods look wonderful…but, I have to admit I needed to do a Google search to find out what it was you were talking about. Really looks interesting. I want to try it too. Happy Mother’s Day.

    • I’m loving the diet and eating more interesting and varied food than before – and no mc donalds or KFCs in sight, so I’m probably saving money too!! Was it the Quark you needed to google? It’s for sale here in the big supermarkets, but Del’s been researching it over the pond but not been able to find any. 🙂

  6. Helen looks lovely in her dress. Did she come round to measure you all dolled up like that?
I think the French equivalent to Quark is Fromage Frais – if not the same then I think it’s very similar and can be substituted in recipes. I don’t eat it myself but just saying. Well done on your continuing weight loss – soon you might look as tall and skinny as the model in the jumpsuit – especially if you get somebody to lie on the floor and point the camera up at that angle 😉 Your weight loss doesn’t seem to be affecting your face which is good – you’re probably too young – if I lose any weight now it’s not usually intentional but it makes me look about 100 years old.
I love Cyber Mum’s kitchen, it’s gorgeous, but where is everything? 😉

    • Cyber moms got loads of cupboards and a utility room so most stuff has a place to go, so she’s lucky. Helen didn’t turn up dolled up, she sent me the pick, though maybe she should have as she was only just saying when she came round today that she makes all these dresses but hardly ever wears them. You’ve given me a thought though. I might start to nominate myself a day each week to be a dolled up day, and no matter what I’m doing, whether it’s food shopping or whatever, I’m going to get dolled up!! 🙂

  7. Well done for letting hubby win this time😂😂 The healthy eating is looking very tasty, your doing so well.

    • It definitely keeps him interested but I won’t be letting him win in a hurry again, it did go to his head a bit!! 🙂

  8. Beads and Barnacles says

Well done on your weight loss. 🙂
Your photo of that jump suit in the burda magazine made me look at this month’s magazine which is this first one I’ve bought since my subscription stopped in Jan. I might try the jump suit or one of the plus size dresses

    • It’s really stunning, it’s on my long to do list. I’m a bit lucky with burda as I fit into both size ranges at the minute. 🙂

      • Beads and Barnacles says

Yeah I am thinking about it but making it have a symmetrical bodice.
Yeah I fit into both sizes atm as well which Def makes the magazine better value 🙂

  9. I swear that’s the self same patio set that we’re considering in our local garden centre! Good on you for letting the Mister win for a change – the balls in the water were a convincing touch! Good going for you all on the weight loss and you’re still able to enjoy such great food. Poor Cyber Mom – the things we do for the blog, eh? That jumpsuit made me stop and look again. It may be the one to tempt me to join in this June……

    • It wasn’t good loosing my balls though, I was more gutted than loosing, as they’re £3 each!!! Maybe I should buy some cheaper ones or try harder! Since we’ve bought the furniture we haven’t had proper sitting out weather but I suppose it’s still early days. And the jumpsuit business….you do really need to join us this time!! Please!! 🙂

  10. What a lovely week! Your poor mother, bless her, although I admire her sparkly kitchen!
It is wonderful to be able to sit outside again! Looks as if you had a great time!

    • My poor mother….. she’s not actually mentioned it so I’m wondering if she’s seen it. I’ll keep it quiet for now. :-0

  11. Well done to everyone on the weight loss! Great to see so much yummy good for you food. What’s happening with the golf? You always used to beat hubby. I think cyber mum looks fab – we all dress like that in Devon 😉

    • Ha ha…. you but surely you must make yourself matching socks and not wear odd shop bought ones!! She’s gonna kill me when she sees this, she’s not mentioned it yet, so I’m wondering if I should remove it. That’s it, enough wondering done, it’s staying …sorry mom x

      • Steady on – I’ll happily adopt her if you upset her too much. And, as I’ve already pointed out she’s already dressed, to live down here 😉

    • I think it might be a bit too snazzy for me in gold, maybe if I was 20 years younger and still going clubbing. I love the ribbed fabric so I might see if i can find something similar in a charcoal colour. 🙂
