Sunday Sevens ’19 – 1

I’m starting as I mean to go on in 2019. Not sure how long this will last, but I’m hoping to post in a timely fashion, and not getting behind as I hate playing catch up!

So here’s a little bit of what I’ve been up to in the last week….

An ecstatic pair of golfers! At my club there’s been a competition run through the winter for pairs of men to play in a league on a Sunday morning. Women have never entered it. For years they weren’t allowed, (shock/horror!). But now we are, so I entered with Suzette (who sews too!) and after 7 games we finally won a match and are no longer bottom of the league table!
Before Christmas I ordered some wine bottle cork lights. They’ve finally arrived and now I can light up my empty gin bottles I’ve been collecting. (Yes I have drunk all that gin – with a little help from friends!!) Here’s the link for them – they’re only £8.17 for 12, with free P&P.
A spot of photography at Rutland Water. The weather was a bit naff, and the sky grey so I converted this to B&W to make it look a bit more interesting.

The sky appeared to be on fire over Huddersfield.
Cyber mom and pops called in for a cuppa and brought me a bunch of roses 😍
Stumbled across a pattern company I’ve not heard of before – the Friday Pattern Company and am liking the look of their Joan Trousers.
But before I tackle them I’m just starting on these box pleated shorts, prompted by the Monthly Stitches challenge for January – Seasonally Inappropriate
Also thinking about future sewing, the feature pic at the top is what I’m thinking I might buy to make a Roman Blind for my kitchen window.
It would have been rude to say no to the offer of cake from the grateful family of a patient!

That’s all for now folks, it’s quite a short post compared to some of my past Sunday Sevens. Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend, I’m working in a couple of hours and my weekend starts tomorrow when it’s my Crafternoon Tea at the golf club. An informal getting together from 11am if anyone’s local and fancies joining us. (not the afternoon and lunch not tea, but never mind!). It’s just a minute off J26 of the M62.

Cheerio

I sew and play golf. I blog about my sewing as I don't think you'd want to read about my golf. It's bad enough watching it on telly! Contact me via email - Thimbers.blog@gmail.com

  1. Pauline says

The fabric would look gorgeous as a Roman blind. Love those cork lights. Enjoy your crafters afternoon.

  2. Love the idea of the gin. The lights in the bottle are neat too. Have a great weekend, which won’t be the weekend to go with the afternoon tea which isn’t either.

  3. Love the fabric for the roman blind. I got quite good at making those when I still lived in the U.K. but there’s no need for them here. Windows open inwards and they’ve all got shutters.
‘Treggings’! What’ll they think of next? I was trying to think of something equally weird but I think they’ve all been done. Coatigan, skort, etc. Whatever, I’m sure you’ll make a fine pair of them.
Glad to hear that golf clubs have moved into the 21st century – it should have been the 20th century surely – still, better late than never I suppose.
Cork lights – I’ve ordered them. I was only saying to Mr. Tialys the other day that I wanted some LED lights to put inside my beautiful antique French demijohn but he said you wouldn’t be able to arrange them so that they didn’t all just droop to the bottom. Now I know different so they’re on their way. Thank you for helping me spend money.

    • You’re welcome, anytime! I was a bit disappointed they took about 3 weeks to arrive. But worth the wait!
Who’d have thought blogging could be so expensive!

  4. What can I say? The golf shorts fabric & pattern are fab! As is the blind fabric & jeggings pattern. They all look well suited to your wardrobe. Have great fun on your weekend that isn’t and your tea that isn’t, and enjoy the cake that probably will be! (And/or the gin. Do love those lights!) xx

  5. Well done with the golf! I’m in a 4BBB comp tomorrow so I’ll be busy getting blown away by the wind and rain at Hanging Heaton tomorrow while you’re having your Crafternoon! Hope you have fun x

    • Hope you didn’t get too blown away! It’s tough keeping swinging and getting out there in the colder months, but Spring will soon be here!! xx

  6. Loving the light-up gin bar! And thanks for the link to the seasonally inappropriate challenge – finally a sewing challenge I can get completely on board with..!
