#memademay17 – Halfway there

I pledged to wear me made every day and post on IG and so far so good!  It’s been tough at times as I discover more clothes that are too big for me, but on the plus side some of my older makes have been dug out of the archives. 1 – My first Molly Top from Sew Over It has had lots of wear since I made it back in October, and is still in regular rotation. 2 – Me Made May sprung me into action the night before a game of golf when I didn’t know what I could wear that was me made.  I up cycled an unloved golf top that belonged to my hubby. 3 – Day 3 and I managed a whole outfit!  A fairly recently make, my Cynthia Rowley Skirt (simplicity 1783) and a top using a Simple Sew pattern from last year (sorry I can’t remember which one!) 4 – My first and only Fehr Trade VNA top.  I really need more of these for my new action packed …

Only 3 sleeps for you guys!  I’m not sure how to count mine as I’m working the night shift tonight and tomorrow so it’ll be 2 ish I think!   It’s all getting just too exciting! So I thought I’d write a short post as I keep thinking of things to tell you! I’ve been down Dewsbury today to make sure Weatherspoons have saved us a corner.  They have – we’ll all be directly on your right as soon as you walk in.   Errm, what else.   Have you made a badge?   Like the goodie bag swap badge making isn’t compulsory.  I only just traced mine off last night (using just my iPhone and a frixion pen)  and am hoping to do a quick running stitch over the fancy writing and then stitch it to something a bit more substantial.  Not sure when this is going to happen, I’ve not even hemmed my Moneta yet!  And I’ve not got a goodie bag  to put my goodies in!  Oh my, I really need to …

Me and O – The Start of Something Marvellous!

Here’s a quickie (with quite a few piccies) about how me and my new assistant O are getting on. Anyone who knows me in ‘real life’ will know I’ve a bit of a thing for instruction manuals.  It drives me bonkers to have something and not know how it works properly, and what all the different functions do.  (hence the hubby still can drive me crazy as his mum lost the manual I was supposed to get when we got married!) So when O arrived I was super excited, had downloaded and read the manual more times than I could remember and felt fairly confident that I could jump in feet first and make something. But I didn’t! Instead I cut some strips of fabric and started from the beginning of the instruction book and began working through the different stitches. As I practiced each stitch I wrote on the fabric what the stitch was, but soon thought this could get a bit disorganised so stuck them onto paper using a regular glue stick. I was able to write …

One Cap Many Looks

Last week I read about Sth’s Grandma’s Cycling Cap: How cute is this!  I really needed one, like needed one and bought the pattern straight away and printed it off before the money came out of my paypal account!  And it sat there for a week.  Then it took me all of 60 seconds cutting out the pieces and before I knew it I was a hat maker! I woke up early and I’d made most of it my 8:30 am – I was so pleased H was awake and I could get a move on and make a bit of noise before before I got dressed.  I seem at my most productive when I’m in my dressing gown. I needed to find some firm plastic to stiffen the peak and chopped off part of a plastic folder.  There was enough for 2, so I chopped the extra one ready for hat no 2 (should it occur!). The hat came together in no time.  The instructions were really easy to follow.  I could’ve done with using …
