Giveaway Time! How Far Would You Go?!

Remember I said there’s going to be a prize for someone who couldn’t make the #sewdowndewsbury meet up? Well there’s going to be 2! The ladies who attended were such a generous bunch, here’s what you could win in the giveaway……                               All you have to do is guess the total number of miles that everyone travelled to get to Dewsbury. There’ll be a UK winner and an international winner.  I’m going to share the goodies between 2 winners.  The whole lot of prizes weigh in at 7 pounds, so when I’m putting the 2 prizes together the UK one will have the heavier gifts. Also, if someone wins the international one and they live in Australie I won’t give them Chris’s wooly hat! Please leave your guestimate in the comments below, and maybe say where you’re from and how far you’d go to have a fab day with sewing crazy ladies! The giveaway will close on Friday 17th March at …

#sewdowndewsbury – only 9 sleeps

Last year when the Spoolettes got together down Dewsbury for a day of sewcialising I ran a little competition/giveaway and prizes were awarded to 2 ladies who guessed the closest to the total mileage of how far everyone had travelled. Tialys (international winner!) guessed 655 and Sam (UK winner) guessed 666.  The total mileage was 671. This year there […]

#sewdowndewsbury – A Giveaway for those who can’t make it!

This year there will another giveaway with the same format, but the prizes will be different.  Attendees are taking part in a goodie bag swap and quite a few have said they will bring something extra on the day for the Giveaway Prize Goodie Bag. So I will make up 2 Goodie Bags … one for a UK winner and one for an international winner.  The contents of the goodie bags are totally unknown at the minute, but I imagine they will be totally amazing! After the meet up I’ll open up the giveaway and you’ll be able to leave your guess of how far everyone has travelled in the comments. To help you I’m going to add a list of who’s going and links to their blog …

An Invisible Invisible Zipper Tutorial

Because not all invisible zips are invisible. SewPhotoHop from Rachel of House of Pinheiro is back! It’s day 2 which is “Your Favourite Skill”.  Knowingly or unknowingly we’re all quite a skilled bunch out there and a lot of them skills we don’t know we have.  We’re also a generous bunch too who like to share our skills with other lovely sewists out there. Over on IG i’ve posted that my favourite skill is inserting invisible zips, or zippers depending where you are in the world.  I also mentioned I could share how I do it as it works a treat every time with no pins and no tears.  As there were quite a few who wanted  me to show you, here we are. 2 things for me when inserting an invisible zip are important. it’s invisible any seams match up So here’s how I do it. Gather your supplies: an invisible zip a pencil iron on interfacing if your fabric is anything other than denim or a robust fabric. a normal zipper foot   1  Open …

Giveaway!! I won and you could too!!

A couple of weeks ago I entered a giveaway to win £50 of fabric over at an online shop I’ve recently discovered – WeaverDee.com It was the first of 6 weekly giveaways, and there’s still 4 left.  If you’d like to be in with a chance of winning then I’d head over there sharpish!   Imagine my excitement when I received an email to say I’d won!! Picture the scene – it’s 4am, I’m 10 hours into my first night shift with 2 hours still left.  I’d been awake for 17 hours.  I was flagging a bit.  It was wild and windy outside and I was sat in the ambulance outside A&E wondering where control  would be sending us next.  I checked my emails whilst waiting….. It’d only been sat in my inbox for 2 days!! An email telling me I’d won £50 to spend on fabric at WeaverDee! I bet you can picture a very different scene now, inside the ambulance anyway!! Needless to say the remaining 2 hours of my shift flew by and I couldn’t wait …

Drum roll please…….. Gadget Giveaway Results!\\

Remember a couple of weeks ago I announced a giveaway for the Reusable Swatch Kit from Janome?  Well they only went and sent the Swatch Buddy Expansion Kit too. So tonight I’ve been busy copy and pasting 38 names onto my iNotes then converting to PDF, printing, then passing on to the department downstairs (i’m upstairs in H’s bedroom on the iMac) to do cutting out, placing in a plastic bag and been drawn out of a hat!  It’s all been a bit crazy, especially as cricket is on TV and it’s hard for them 2 downstairs to concentrate when the TV’s on. So here we are, in no particular order: Trisha Corrineappleby Terzi Begum Little Miss Bunting Jendavismiller Curlsandskirls If you could drop me an email with your address I’ll pop them in the post! Thanks to everyone who took the time to comment and enter the giveaway.  I’m planning a follow up post with all your brilliant gadget ideas!

Gadget Envy Giveaway!!

Remember my recent post about the amazing Goodie bag from Janome? There was a certain amount of gadget envy going around the blogasphere after then so I contacted the lovely people at Janome to see if they would like to sponsor a giveaway on my blog. And guess what!? They said YES!! So, I have 6 swatch buddies to give away!! Not sure what a swatch buddy is? Everyone wants to find the perfect materials for their projects but few really have the time to invest in creating and organizing their fabric swatches or paper samples on swatch cards for their shopping trips. This problem inspired a hassle-free swatching solution with the fast and easy Swatch Buddies Kits. Once you try them youll realise Swatch Buddies are just what you need. The main kit comes with a lockable cable ring holding 12 plastic swatch cards, 12 stickers to hold your fabric on the card and 12 labels for identifying your fabric. As a bonus the kit includes 12 extra stickers and labels as the cards …

And the winner is……

Last Sunday I posted my 1950s outfit I’d made for a themed party I had been invited to. I had some fabric left and made some cute coasters with a pattern from Craftsy. I’d never done a ‘giveaway’ before and decided to give the coasters to one of my fellow bloggers. Although I know you’re all extremely capable of making them yourselves I still find it nice to receive handmade gifts from others and thought you might too!! Originally I was going to pick the names out of my crocheted hat, but I can’t find it!! So I’ve used the online random number generator: Congratulations to OurSewingPatch at ‘Sewinlove‘! Her blog is amazing, full of inspiration! If you drop me an email Ali underscore kelly AT me.com And let me know your address I’ll pop them in the post! X
