Sunday Sevens 2020-3

What a week! Scary times ahead with ‘you know what’, but I did manage to pack quite a lot in to this week, but socially I think that will be it for quite a whilst we exercise social distancing. The week started with a little sewcial gathering at Hicklteton Golf club and a little shopping spree in Waltons when the Yorkshire Spoolettes went on tour. Monday was also Childrens Day – something we’ve celebrated in our family since I was 11. Not quite a child any more but H still gets a pressie and I get one from cyber mom and pops. I got lilies, they are beginning to open up – I wish you could smell them! On the way back from the meet up I called off at Castleford Outlet and bought a pair of new boots…. Tuesday I managed a game of golf, only the 2nd time this year. Yorkshire Karen spotted me from the Greenway and sent me this picture, though I never saw her. Wednesday I popped down to Lucky …

Sunday Sevens 2020-2

As well as few pics from this week, I thought I’d add a few extra ones too. I’ll explain as I go along! You might know that about a year ago after working on the rapid response car for 10 years I went back to working on the ambulances. As a result I have adopted a little sister – Bex. I work over half my shifts with her. She’s so lovely and the 10 hour shifts with her just fly by. As well as a work little sister I’ve adopted a work son too. Aaron. He’s a newly qualified paramedic and is from the other side of the pennines so has no family over her, so I mother him a bit, and he comes for tea and we have the occasional gin night. And not forgetting my proper family. Cyber mum and pops are doing well, and little H is now 6’5″🙀 Bit of a do at mine…… I need glasses – a little bit for reading and definitely for sewing. These aren’t what I’ve …

Sunday Sevens 2020-1

Looking back I never knew how I used to find photos from my week that warranted writing about. I’ve just had a look through the photos I’ve taken over the last week and bit the bullet and am going to try and get back into my Sunday Sevens. I started the week with meeting my sewing wify Lisa. We called at Yorkshire Born and Thread. They were having a pop up sale, I bought this gorgeous flocked chiffon type fabric, There’s just over 2 metres and I’m thinking Pussy Bow blouse with fancy sleeves. It has an amazing drape and soft feel to it. There’s a lovely country pub, The Hare and Hounds, only 2 minutes drive away so we popped in for a spot of lunch. It’d have been rude not to! Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. Tuesday is normally my golf day when I’m not working, but yet again the foul weather closed the course. Before meeting the ladies for lunch (we still usually go down for a catch …

Sunday Seven ’19 – 3

Keeping up with my weekly Sunday Sevens didn’t last too long, but at least I’m doing better than I did in 2018! There should be a photo here of my friend who I’m giving secret golfing lessons to. But if I post it, it won’t be a secret no more! Hope you’ve all had a productive and happy start to 2019. And those who are able to are watching the Great British Sewing Bee! Catch you all soon, Ali xx

Sunday Sevens ’19 – 1

I’m starting as I mean to go on in 2019. Not sure how long this will last, but I’m hoping to post in a timely fashion, and not getting behind as I hate playing catch up! So here’s a little bit of what I’ve been up to in the last week…. That’s all for now folks, it’s quite a short post compared to some of my past Sunday Sevens. Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend, I’m working in a couple of hours and my weekend starts tomorrow when it’s my Crafternoon Tea at the golf club. An informal getting together from 11am if anyone’s local and fancies joining us. (not the afternoon and lunch not tea, but never mind!). It’s just a minute off J26 of the M62. Cheerio Thimbers

2018 – Sunday Seven Style

Happy New Year!!! Hope you’re feeling well rested and your seams aren’t bursting after the festive period! Let’s hope I can remember how to do this! The format of how I’m doing this has changed but hopefully I’ll have a blog post by the end of the day! To say it’s been a while is an understatement. I only managed 2 blogs posts in the whole of 2018, so instead of writing thread to the needle of what I’ve been up to, in true Sunday Sevens style I’ll give you 2018 in photos. I’ll write a separate post of the few bits and pieces I’ve made, and about the Spoolettes meet up. I’m hoping 2019 will be more productive in the sewing room. I’ve been busy decorating and doing other bits and pieces around my new home, and getting used to living on my own and being a grown up! I’ve made a promise to myself I’ll keep up to my blogging as I have really missed you guys, and am looking forwards to seeing …

#SundaySevens 2018 #1

Hello Lovelies! I’m wondering should I mention my absence and apologise for it?  Or do I just crack on and bombard you with lots of photos of some of my goings on over the last few weeks?  Yea, I think I’ll just do that. I picked up a leather skirt from a charity shop, it was either £5 or £10.  It needed shortening and taking in at the hips – I forgot I had done this, I must dig it out of the wardrobe! My birthday lunch back in October! Cyber mum….not looking to impressed but looking very slim! Girlie night out – the same place I went for my birthday but it’s totally different on a Friday night, when there is usually a band on. The food is always great – here’s the link if you live over this way and fancy going – Jeremy’s at The Boathouse More eating out!  Not wonder I’ve put on 1/2 stone (or more!) since I reached my target back in May last year!  This time for my …

#SundaySevens 102

It is Sunday but there’s not 7!  How could there be when it’s almost 3 months since I last wrote a Sunday Sevens post.  So I’ll just get on and try it keep the writing short and snappy.  Make sure you’ve eaten – there are a few food posts and they’re not all Slimming World! Baby Moorhens on the golf golf.  They weren’t very willing subjects when I tried to photograph then, they couldn’t half shift! Stunning sunset one Summers evening at work. Gorgeous meal after a team match at golf.  So healthy, not the usual pie and chips which we often get. Followed by a not so healthy dessert 😻 An evening with H watching Yorkshire Cricket in a 20-20 game. Rory being very cute and not minding having her photo taken. Stormtroopers at our local shopping centre, whatever next! A very English Band Stand at Ripon racecourse. Cold baked sweet potatoes, I just love ’em with everything! English Summers at their best I’m not a fair weather golfer so battled on in the …

#SundaySevens 101

It’s a good job Natalie’s Sunday Sevens are free and easy with no hard and fast rules, cos I’d have broken them all by now. I’m thinking for now I’ll post my Sunday Sevens fortnightly rather than weekly, so here’s my last 2 weeks…..   As usual I usually have something with me to do at work.  My main distraction is still this blanket which I also take to cricket.  I usually have a with me too pattern too on the off chance I get to cut it out. This is the canal basin in Elland.  This area was devastated by the Boxing Day Floods in 2015 but now looks amazing, I even have my own car park for when I’m stood by.  Well, it feels like my own as there’s only ever me there! Tea out….. Toffee fudge eclair.  I started at one end and the Hubby at the other.  We finished it!!  I’ve put his phone there so you can see just how big it is! The Tailors in Fartown has a new …
