#SundaySevens 86 (16/1/17)

Hello Sunday Seveners! I’ve managed to squeeze in quite a bit in the last week.  I should have included a photo of Dewsbury hospital as the MIL was admitted a week yesterday with her breathing, and is still there.  So I’ve spent quite a bit of time backwards, they’ve not got to the bottom of what’s causing the shortness of breath but fingers crossed we’ll have answers soon. I had quite an eventful time at work this week, it started off with needing the assistance of these guys…..    On Tuesday we played in the Lady Captains New Year Comp, and had a huge meal afterwards.  The only photo I have though is of me and my partner in crime practicing a selfie!  Later in the week Bekki (from the Dartmoor Yarn Company)  and I started collaberating a joint venture.  Bekki is a proper knitter in case you don’t know her, I think she could even knit in her sleep!   We’ve come up with an idea (not really sure how it happened!) but it’s a secret at the minute.  We’re …

#SundaySevens 85 – the first of 2017

I’m so glad I write my Sunday Sevens.  The end of the week comes along and before I actually look through the photos on my phone I often feel a bit despondent that my weeks been a bit flat, too much work, no nights out, and just a bit mundane.  But then I look through my photos and within less than a minute I’m feeling loads better and always have a smile on my face. The mundane things and the every day stuff bring back just as many happy memories of what I’ve been up to in the week, almost as much as when I’m looking through and see a pic when I’ve drunk too much wine and can’t quite remember the photo being taken! Don’t get me wrong, it’s not always easy remember to take all these photo.  My family have gotten used to me whipping out the phone for a quick Sunday Sevens pic, and the hubby no longer pulls a face at the suggestion of a selfie.  At the beginning I’d forget all the …

#SundaySevens 84 – Christmas Special!

Hello! This will be my last post of 2016, so I’d just like to say Happy New Year to  you!  I hope 2017 will be happy, healthy and full of creativity. Thankyou for following me, and taking time to read my posts and comment too.  I know it’s it not Sunday, but I’m on nights over the weekend so thought I’d be early for a change, especially as it’s a 2 week round up from the Christmas period.     I’ve not been able to spend much time at the sewing machine, but have had quite a few nights in front of the TV crocheting another heart scarf.  I’ve made quite a few of these and never get bored of the pattern.   I bought the pattern on Craftsy, it’s quite easy and there’s photos for each row which really helps.  Here’s the link if you fancy having a go.   Rory having a big yawn but looking quite ferocious!! Arriving home after a night shift has it’s benefits – there’s been some amazing sunrises …

Hello Sunday Seveners!   This weeks pics revolve mainly around my hubby’s 50th birthday, and a girlie golf night out with a couple of other pics thrown in for good measure!   When it’s mine or the hubby’s birthday we try to take the day off work and depending on the weather either go play golf our head somewhere undercover. This year we headed into Leeds and mooched around the shops and went to the theatre.  The new centre that homes John Lewis is very impressive, but still not a patch on some of the old arcades. A spot of lunch and cocktails in the Alchemist before we went to the theatre to see the Commitments. And a mandatory Starbucks fitted into the day too! After the show more food in the local with they family. Friday night was the ladies christmas dinner at the golf club.  There were lots of dancing and cracker pulling! And afterwards, the night was still young so we headed to our favourite local for a spot of karaoke.  It’s a …

It’s been a while since I shared any Happy Valley photos in my Sunday Sevens but here’s one taken only about 200 yards off the main road from Halifax to Hebden Bridge, only a couple of miles from town.  Such tranquility but close to civilisation fabric shops. Here’s a screen shot of what I’m planning for Linda’s Designin’ December.  I’m thinking i could make a similar effect from my husbands tie collection – I’ve not told him yet!!  If you’ve not heard of it, click on the link and have a look.  It’s all about copying a designer garment. Sue and I had our gym Christmas Do – we went into Leeds to see The Monty – it’s well worth a trip to see it if it goes to a theatre near you.  Afterwards we hit the German Market. This arrived in the post.  I was totally baffled as I didn’t recall meeting a Sue at a table top sale in Hawes.  It turns out cyber mom did though! A slight accident whilst attempting to …

The week kicked off with a night at the movies.  Not the real movies – that was the theme for this years “Welcome to Yorkshire’ White Rose Awards held at Harrogate show ground. There were about 1200 guests and it was a huge event.  I just wish I hadn’t have been running late as it would have been great to get some photos whilst everyone was mingling before they were seated. The food was stunning… And as you could probably have guessed my highlight was the dessert. Back to each and a pub lunch in our local-ish pub.  H skipped dessert and had a hot chocolate instead.  I think it’s getting hard for him to look cool and have his photo taken in public! My missing parcel arrived from Fabric Rehab.   My purchases from the knitting and stitching show. Can you believe no fabric!! I also spent my £10 stitching santa allowance at the show.  Here is the ‘main pressies’…. Friday I had my first Christmas Dinner.  It wasn’t a christmas celebration – it was …

Hello Sunday Seveners! I work either 2, 3, 4, or 5 10 yours shifts a week.  It averages out at 33 hours per week.  This week was a shocker as I had to work 5 shifts.  Luckily these weeks don’t happen too often and I somehow managed to cram in quite a bit to share with you. Before starting work at 4pm on Monday I had a lovely hour with Hila and Eleanor in the Shuttle in Shipley.  The name kept popping up and Hila just HAD to pay a visit.  And like all fabric addicts good sewing friends do we went to keep her company.  I did have to make the obligatory purchase or 3!  The Shuttle isn’t online but see THIS website for reviews and where to find it.  It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re ever in the area, or not! As soon as I got home from the Shuttle I dug out my rulers and set about making my first block.  I’d been wanted to get started for ages but needed …

This week has seen our first snow fall, which seems really strange after having such a mild few weeks.  We only had an inch or 2, but enough to cause chaos to the commuters.  Luckily I was tucked up in bed – I took the photo below when I returned home after my night shift. I placed a couple of orders with Fabric Rehab.  The first one arrived, and after looking through it everything looked familiar, but only because I’d scrutinised the website when placing my order and nearly bought everything!! I couldn’t remember what I’d ordered but thought I’d ordered 3m of the top fabric to make cushions for the lounge.  There was only 1m so I checked my account. None of the other fabrics were mine!!  I got in touch with Fabric rehab and they were going to refund my money, but then a day later another customer got in touch as she had my parcel! H and I called into Curry’s to look at TVs and ended up having a go at …

I’m feeling a bit like a bingo caller – “all the 7s – Sunday Sevens – Seventy Seven” I’m blaming Sew Up North (S.U.N.) for my lateness this week.  I know I have regular readers who watch out for my Sunday Sevens (that’s you Mom!), but the S.U.N. post just had to jump the queue, and I don’t think there’s any apologies needed. So what else happened last week? I started the week in true Thimbers style with cake.  You’ve seen these meringues before but not in the pink version.  Whitleys Garden Centre had a fire earlier in the year and has been shut for ages.  It has reopened with new, not sure if improved, but still lovely and huge meringues.   If you’re around Mirfield way on the run up to Christmas it’s worth a visit.  The decorations are to die for, they do a great afternoon tea, and Santa’s there too.  And there’s a great cafe. I have to show you the inside too! My sewing cave has had slight makeover in readiness for …

The week started with my big sister’s birthday.  We’re the same age for 10 days once I have mine.  This card has been sent to each other and new messages added since she started her podiatry degree 3 years ago.  I think this will last for years.  LuckilyI only take responsibly of it for 10 days – my sister looks after it for the rest of the year. A beautiful day for golf.  Don’t let Helens layers make you think it was cold she’s wrapped up all year round!   I only played in a t shirt with a coco over the top. The sun being out really lit up the colours in the trees. A lovely parcel arrived in the post from Fabric Rehab.  I just stumbled across them the week before and there was 40% off, so I just bought a few random things.  This little lot (and there’s 2m of the london mug poplin) only cost £16.25 inc postage.  I’m feeling a bit bad now for not telling you sooner. Hubby …
