Sunday Sevens Weeks 39 (me 14)

Hello!  Hope you’ve all had a wonderful week.  Mine’s been a bit mixed – a bit like the weather.  I’d been stung in the face by hail stones and 3 days later been sun burnt! A little mention about Sunday Sevens….  Natalie from Threads and Bobbins thought this for us to write a post to include 7 photos from your week.  It’s great to get an insite into what we all get up to outside of the sewing room.  I particularly like to see photos of where my blogging friends live – not their houses – just what the landscapes are like round and about.  It makes it a bit more real as I often feel it’s a bit weird having ‘virtual friends’! 1.  The week can only get better from here.  It had been a bright blustery day, but at 5.08 pm as I teed off the heavens opened and it blew a gail!  I was so fed up, but had to battle on for the team! Needless to say I won!  But it did …

Sunday Sevens Week 38 (me 13)

Hi, hope you’ve had a fab week!  For all those of you with kids on half term hope they’ve not driven you too bonkers with this chilly weather we’ve been having this week. Here’s a run down of my last week, showing 7 photos of what I’ve been up to. Natalie from Threads and Bobbins is the brain child of Sunday Sevens, so if you want to find out more head over to her blog. 1.   I think this photo speaks for itself!   I’m fed up of emptying the sink which is next to the dishwasher.  I must say almost a week on it’s working!   2.  Imagine my surprise when I spotted an old gypsy caravan whilst out for a stroll on Tuesday morning!  The guy had stopped and was rolling a cigarette.  I had a peek inside, it had a bed and other essentials so he must live in it!  Excuse the pic not being very sharp, I was trying not to let him see i was taking a picture. 3.  I …

Sunday Sevens Week 36 (me 11)

Hi, another week, another Sunday Seven!  These weeks sure fly by, I’m just managing to squeeze this post in before I set off to work for my last night shift (this week, not ever!). 1.  I thought it was about time I tidied up the front garden.  No after photo just yet but I did make enough progress that hubby noticed I’d done something outside of the sewing room. 2.  I made Viola’s Shephards Pie using a recipe from Sewing With Scooby Snacks! Delicious! 3.  I chose the lounge carpet! The other 2 samples are my couch and love seat.  They won’t be here til the middle of June. I’m counting the days! 4.  H played cricket and at the side of the pitch there were a few animals including these 2.  I think they’re Alpacas – correct me if I’m wrong! 5.  Started my first of 4 night shifts.  Grabbed any old pair of socks out of my drawer! 6.   I went into a house about 4:30 am and it was pitch black …

Sunday Sevens Week 35 (me 10)

Hi Everyone – Happy Mothers Days to those mums who aren’t in England – we’ve had ours, but if I’d have known there was another I’m sure I could have hood-winked my family into celebrating it again! So here we are again.  What with Sunday Sevens, Me-Made-May, and now Jumping Into June I don’t know whether I’m coming or going.  So long as I put the pix into the right folder on the computer we’ll be ok!  To read more about Sunday Sevens head over to Natalie’s Blog at Threads & Bobbins….. it’s never too late to join in! 1.  Yorkshire isn’t just famous for it’s Yorkshire Puddings.  We have Yorkshire Mixtures too! 2.   My office.  An unusually quiet and sunny morning at work. 3.  Picked H up after work. I tried to take a pic of my mum through the kitchen windown, but also got me, H and the garden behind me! 4. H acting the goat wearing his Grandpa’s reading glasses! 5. About a couple of weeks ago I ordered the Cabernet …

Sunday Sevens – Week 34 (me 9)

I thought I’d be scraping the barrel with the photos for this past week, but now as I’m flicking through them on my photo stream I have 7.  Phew!  I thought before I looked that I might have to add one or two from my Me Made May ones but I don’t. 1.  Spot the vital piece of equipment necessary when I’m sorting out the back of my car at work! 2.  Spotted another shop in Bradford which I’ll have to try and peruse one day.  Apparently it’s really cheap for all haberdashery – as in it’s cheaper to buy the whole roll than just a couple of metres!  It’s on Toller Lane near Bradford Royal Infirmary – if any ‘local’ readers could enlighten us further that would be fab! 3.   An exceedingly windy and chilly day on the golf course! 4.  A rare treat – going out with Mr Thimberlina (to a do at the golf club! where else!) 5.  Look what arrived in the post!  Thanks Amanda! 6.  It was too cold to watch cricket (well …

Sunday Sevens – Week 33 (me 8)

Hi Everyone, hope you’ve had a fab and productive week!  I’ve not had as much time as I’d like for sewing, though I have almost completed a Vogue 1429 which I’ve made to match my funky scuba leggings!  Can’t to to finish them off and show you!  I’m going to look a right bobby dazzler on the golf course! So here’s my seven photos from this week: 1. The Great British Bake Off has nothing on H!  He continues to surprise us with his baking skills when he comes home from school on Mondays! 2.  If you hate feet (and lots do I know) look away now!  Lucky for me my sister loves feet and is in her 2nd year of her podiatry degree so she’s keeps my feet in tip top condition!   3. My pattern from Linda’s giveaway on Nice Dress! Thank, I made it!!  arrived all the way from Canada!  Thanks Linda! 4. When I’m on nights it can be difficult to find something to take a picture of.  This is 5:30am …

Sunday Sevens – week 32 (me 7)

Evening! Phew!  It’s been a long day!   A long week too, really.  It was the 2nd week of the Easter hols in our part of the world. After nearly 3 weeks off I went back to work last Friday.  That was a shock to the system having to get up at 5am! MONDAY Monday we had a chilling day.  Visited Nanny & Nana, and stopped off for an ice-cream on the way. TUESDAY We played golf – it’s not very often we play together. It’s hard to fit it in.  H’s been playing on the ‘big’ course since he was 5 and got an official handicap when he was only 9.    He managed 15 holes before he got bored! It was quite chilly.  We’d both gotten our legs out but could’ve done with wrapping up a bit warmer! WEDNESDAY Some friends came round for lunch.  They’re 2 mums I’ve met since H started playing cricket for Yorkshire 2 years ago.   It was great for the lads to get together too.   H loves jumping out on …

Sunday Sevens week 31 (me 6)

I may be on a roll and getting into the swing of things with the Sunday Sevens, now I’m into week 6.   I have an app on my phone called Day One.  I’ve used it in the past and it’s kind of a diary, so this week I’ve decided to use it to keep track of what I’m up to and it’s worked out better for me. I’ve had a strange week.  H is away in Italy skiing with the school.  I wouldn’t say I’ve missed him, as in missed him and moping around all day with a long face, but I have been worried about him and constantly checking schools twitter for a glimpse of him on their regular feeds, so I s’pose I have missed him! MONDAY Not having H at home meant the pudding only had to be shared between the 2 of us!  It was some sort of toffee & banana loaf cake from M&S.  (and there’s me wondering why my clothes are shrinking!). TUESDAY Anyone who sort of knows …

Sunday Sevens #30 (me #5)

Hi Everyone! Happy Easter!  This is going to be a quick one…… I’ve had wine and my bed is calling me! Monday The photo above was taken whilst at work – Marsden in Huddersfield.   What a gorgeous day and even more gorgeous view! Tuesday I took delivery of my first ever proper piece of Liberty Cotton.  I say proper because I’ve had remnants but new THREE whole yards!! Wednesday Harrison in the nets having his cricket coaching – he’s so excited as it’s only 2 weeks away to his first match of the season. Thursday Can’t decide what colour couch we want for the front room.  Spent hours looking and still unsure!  This colour was a strong possibility on Thursday but now it’s Sundays it a no-no! Friday Harrison walking down the school drive ready to board the coach for his 26 hour journey to Italy! Saturday Childless and sunny so we went to play golf.  And I won! It’s a rare treat to play together, the last time we did was over a year …

Sunday Sevens #29 (me #4)

Phew, I’ve made it to my week 4 of Sunday Sevens!  I’m a newbie to this and lot’s of you are on week 29 – well done guys! I’m in awe!   Is it getting easier for me? No, not this week, but here we are and here’s what I’ve been up to this week: MONDAY This was one long day.  I knew it was going to be a long one so I even brought my machine downstairs.  I made 30 pump bags – there will be a post shortly, and i know I’m supposed to mention things that really don’t warrant a full post on their own but I didn’t do anything else ALL day.  11 hours I sat there.  My ankles were swollen by the time I’d finished.  I even considered taking an aspirin as I felt at risk of a DVT.   H snapped this pic of me as my camera was on the side. TUESDAY A better day.  I went to play golf! It’s what I normally do on a Tuesday …
