Gosh it’s Sunday!  Time for Sunday Sevens! I think getting my sewing space in order has done something to me, and helped me get organised and productive in other areas of life too.   Or maybe I’m just older and wiser since having a birthday last week!   Quite a random photo…. I’ve been so chuffed with my successful egg poaching this week I just had to share! We’ve had quite a few sunny spells this week, but it’s been really quite chilly with it.  Here’s a planter that cyber-mom bought me for my birthday.  Often I look out and see it I think it’s the cat on the patio waiting to come it. I’ve been out testing a coverlock machine this week.  I’ve not made a purchase yet,  and I’m thinking I’ll write a blog post to share all my research into buying one, as they’re not something us sewers would dash out and buy without a lot of thought. Well blow me!  It’s Sunday and a very long time since I’ve actually written my weekly Sunday Sevens post on time! This week has been a fab one!  I’ve been on annual leave all week as it’s been my birthday. When I first started working on the ambulances over 20 years I had a bad day on my birthday and have since always booked it off. Initially it was the day, but then the week!  So lots of me time and not very much housework! Summer has finally gone and the weather has a definite Autumnal feel to it.  Sue is no fair weather golfer but braved the weather with a few additional layers. We had wind, rain and sunshine when we played in the Yorkshire Challenge at Pontefract Golf Club. Our team won!  Sue was a bit of a ringer in our West Yorkshire team as we battled to beat North and South Yorkshire Ambulance in our annual challenge. I could really get out of sync with my blogging, I’m dying to spill the beans on my 2 latest finished creations, but Good Golly Miss Molly (hint hint), that will have to wait until tomorrow! My very messy sewing room.  It’s a tiny room, what we call a box room in the UK.  And I know I’m lucky, but i just don’t enjoy being in it when it looked like this.  And yes I know, the mess is mine, but it doesn’t make me fell any better.    Things had gotten out of hand and I had stuff everywhere. And I don’t mean just in this room. I should do a before and after post as I feel super duper productive as it doesn’t look like this anymore. My mum in law went in to have a hip replacement.  She wasn’t feeling too photogenic, and H is bobbing down, but there’s a lovely view from the window! What a week! It was a good job I only had to work 1 shift, and I had to swap that as it clashed with one of the 3 games of golf I had to play. It was quite a week for cyber mom too.  She had difficulty breathing at 3am one morning so dad rushed her to A&E – didn’t like to ring 999 despite both daughters being paramedics!!! She wasn’t sure if it was a real emergency! After a 2 night stay they diagnosed her with asthma and she’s got some inhalers and whatavyer, and is back firing on all cylinders.  Phew! As well as golf I also had a day out in Birmingham when I attended Sewbrum No 3 which was just the best day ever – separate blog post with lots of pics to follow! About the golf.  3 games and a bridesmaid every time.  Monday I played in the final of the mixed knockout and we lost 😦  Tuesday I came 2nd in the ladies weekly competition 😦   And Thursday is …

I’ve just been looking back through my Sunday Sevens folder of photos on my Mac, going back to the beginning when I started in March ’15.  I think it’s one of the best things I ever did – joining in Natalie’s Sunday Sevens.  It’s the diary I would always liked to have kept, but wouldn’t have kept up to.  All the photos remind my of little moments which would otherwise have been forgotten. Last week started with our final Works Golf Society outing of the years.  The fellas tend to hit the ball further but a bit wilder than the ladies so a lot of time is spent looking for balls.  On a positive note the blackberries were ripe so when we deviated from the fairway I was able to pick and eat them. Oops a bit late!  The weekend was a bit hectic and yesterday I was in bed for 7pm so finally finding time to share my antics of last weeks. There’s not much variety this week. I played a lot of golf (4 rounds!) so not much time for anything else on those days. Monday was our Lady Captains Trip.  We didn’t venture far, only to Bradford Golf club which is a fantastic course who looked after us and fed us very well.   My team came a close 2nd and we each won a lovely toiletries bag with 2 other matching smaller zipper bags.   In golf if you have the same score as another person or team the one with the best back 9 wins.  Unfortunately we didn’t have the best back 9. Tuesday more golf.  H joined in the ladies comp. Ripped out the naff zip on my dress and added an invisible one, thinking I was going to be wearing it for the races on Thursday. Hello! Hope you’ve all had a lovely week and the weather’s been kind to you wherever you are.  I really don’t know how I did what I did last week.   There’s no way in a month of Sundays than I could narrow it down to just 7 photos for you – so what’s new! Natalie from Threads and Bobbins thought up the Sunday Sevens nearly 2 years ago as a way of posting snippets of your week that maybe wouldn’t warrant a blog post all on their own.  You don’t have to sign your life away to join in – just jump in and out as you please – or go for the long haul like me. Monday I got stuck into making my Belize shorts as a fitting lesson for making the skort. I spent all day and night sewing. It was ace! I made the shorts and almost finished the skort too. A Sunday Sevens Double Bill, on time if you count this one as this weeks and not last weeks, ……..my Sunday Sevens as thought up by the lovely Natalie over at Threads and Bobbins…..   1.  Watching Yorkshire play cricket at Headingley, Leeds. This should have been in my last Sunday sevens post but it got missed.  The sky was too amazing to not share it with you.  I’ve not edited this pic at all, but I think the spot lights have cause a bit of havoc with exposure.  1. Pokemon even at the golf club!  2.  Time for me to touch up cyber mims roots.  Can’t imagine why she was camera shy!  3.   Last year the cricket club was turned into a cafe through the week and it’s a lovely place for lunch, with scrummy homemade cakes.  4. After being late off and coming home from work starving I whipped up a quick tea – leftover veg, beans and dry fried eggs.  Not everyones cup of tea, but did the trick! Rory’s found a new bed….. I was a bit disappointed with this pic taken at Meltham Golf Club – I was hitting onto the green (where the yellow flag in) and behind it it drops away to a river – a scary shot!  it doesn’t look quite as dramatic here.
