There’s nothing quite like a challenge to get the sewing and blogging juices flowing. More so when it’s raising money for a very worthy charity.
This year for the BIG Vintage Sewalong there’s 20 patterns from Retro Butterick, McCall’s and Vogue to choose from.
A donation from every sale will be made to The Eve Appeal – a charity rising awareness and funding research in the 5 gynaecological cancers. Last year over £8000 was raised for the same charity through sales of the Walkaway Dress!
I drooled over almost every pattern, but my final choice was influenced by an invititaiton to my niece’s wedding in September. As I usually have to make 2 or 3 muslins I wanted this dress to be something special, rather than something to be just worn once then stuck at the back of the wardrobe.
I love the tea dress look and the nipped waist, but short of wearing a ridiulously tight corset a nipped in waist is out of the question.
Vogue 9082 grabbed me the most, and as it was slim fitting it wouldn’t require oodles of fabric. Meaning I could splash out on the price per metre!
Here’s how it’s descibed on the vogue website……
Lined jacket has collar, slightly, shaped front hemline, elbow-length dolman sleeves and front bound-button closure. Top has notched front hemline, short dolman sleeves and scoop neckline. A, B: Semi-fitted. Dress has shoulder straps, fitted bodice and lined, front pleated skirt. A, B, C: French darts. B, C: Side zipper.
I was sold!
I loved how the notched top gave the shoulders a little modesty which would be needed during the ceremony. And the jacket – how the sleeves finished level with the waist.
The wedding isn’t until the beginning of September, but last Saturday we were invited to Ripon Races where a new frock was in order. So I decided to make up the dress and see if I felt comfortable in it before I made it up for the BIG day.
Felt comfortable!!??
Understatement of the year!!
I felt a million dollars!!
After 3 muslins of the bodice I’d gotten the fit fairly spot on, which made me look like I’d lost another 7 pounds! It’s amazing what a well fitted dress can do!
I’ll cut the fitting process and save that for later, I’m too excited and need to show you my favourite new frock!
Don’t you just love the shoes!? These are my sister’s and went perfectly with the dress!
Yay for Pattern matching!!!
(ignore the escess fabric – just when you think you’ve fot the fit spot on!)
Still smiling despite only choosing one winner out of 7 races!
What a car! Shame it wasn’t a Vintage Rolls Royce for the photo.
An embaressing moment for the hubby when i asked a complete stranger to take a photo!
I’ll save the fitting process for another post, don’t want to bombard you too much! But before I go, in case you’re wondering where I found this gem of a fabric here’s how it started off………….
I’d nipped down to Dewsbury to collect a parcel for Del from Fabworks (it’s on it way soon I promise – I’ve been adding to it!) and to look for some fabric for THE dress. (I’d already done the muslins at this point.) Then I got a lovely surpise (thankyou Del!) and had a reduction in my bill when I got to the til :-0!
I wasn’t sure which was the right side of the fabric……….
But thought I’d decide which I preffered when I came to cutting out.
By chance I snipped away at some of the netting which was appliqued onto the fabric….
And then this – the front bodice piece
Turned in to this…..
WOWZA!!!!
I then had to painstakingly snip away at every flower, every leaf and every stem.
My arms were aching more than after a Body Pump class! The fabric went everywhere with me for a week, and finally the day before the Races I was ready to sew it together!
Like most of us who sew, it usually down to the last minute. I was still sewing the hem in the last hour before we left!
Fancy joining in??
There’s even a tea party near you where you can wear your new frock.
Check out the Big Vintage Sewalong Event Calender to see what’s happening near you! I’m hoping to make it to the Afternoon Tea at the Knitting and Stitching show in Harrogate in Novemeber. Fingers crossed I might even see you there! I won’t be turning up in a Rolls Royce though!
Or so I’m hoping. What’s normal though!? Posting my Sunday Sevens on a Sunday wouldn’t be normal for me!
Well anyway, here’s a final catchup, a sort of extended Sunday Sevens and then I’m hoping to get some order into my life blog. So without any more waffling on or excuses…..
H had his annual football (soccer) presentation night. It’s a big event and the kids range from 6 to 18. Each year they hire out the Frontier Nightclub in Batley, more famously in the past known as the Batley Variety Club where Shirley Bassey and the Jackson Five and loads of other famous people performed back in the day!
You can tell H was mortified that I’d snook up to take his photo. He won the award for “players’ player”, voted by him fellow team mates. #proudmum!
Topped up the tan wearing my bikini whilst doing the ironing.
Harrison had his birthday. Alfie his cousin made him a birthday cake. (that’s not his cousin in the pic tho!)
Me & my sis’
One of H’s favourite birthday pressies!
These buns tasted as good as they looked! They were in the halfway house for Mr Captain’s day at the golf club.
Essentials packed and ready for our holiday. We never go anywhere without a cricket bat and ball, even if it has to be a plastic one!
This dish was called “Eggs In Purgatory”. 2 poached eggs with tomatoes and chilli. Gorgeous!
The hubby’s tan came along nicely as his freckles joined up.
We called at the local market to pick up provisions. We came away with 3 bags full and only spent about £6.
H’s new nick name is now “Legs”!
We made use of the underwater camera I bought a few years ago, which we normally forget to use.
Heading out on the last night of our holiday.
We went to a buffet just down from where we were staying. It was gorgeous, so many new things to try.
On our last day I pushed the boat out and had this delicious pudding – the yellow was pureed apple.
I didn’t get a wink of sleep on the flight home. Or so I thought until looked through the photos on my phone!
First night home I went on a hen do around Manchester with the girls from work. My feet were killing the next day – 11 hours in heels, ouch! The head faired surprisingly well though.
Straight back onto the healthy eating once I was home. Scrambled egg with king prawns and cherry tomatoes, with spinach thrown in at the last minute.
Although H didn’t make the Yorkshire squad this year they asked him to play in a match at Saltburn-On-Sea. If you’re ever up North on the east coast it’s worth a visit just for the fish and chip shop on the front alone.
We spotted with old World War 2 home made bomb shelter whilst walking back to the cricket club from the beach.
Some family are visiting from America – Here’s H with his cousin now and about 10 years ago – they’re only 4 months apart in age.
I was working this last Saturday and Sunday but managed to watch H play cricket afterwards. Both days had beautiful blue skies, but with a chilly wind, so I watched from behind glass!
The hubby was organised and we had tea in the van whilst watching cricket on Sunday, and had a real treat of berries and cream for afters!

………..Sunday Sevens is the brain child of Natalie from Threads and Bobbins. If you’d like to link up with her too you can – it’s easy! Just share 7 ish photo’s from your week that don’t necessarily warrant a blog post of their own.
Back in May Kat Hardisty from The Monthly Stitch and Muse Patterns got in touch and asked if I’d like to join in something new for Indie Pattern Month. In return for being given a pattern bundle I was asked to make one or more of the six garments and tell you all about it.
I chose the Getaway Bundle. At the time of choosing I had no idea what patterns would be included, but as I was going away on holiday in June I was sure there would be something I’d want to make. And there was!
It was all a bit exciting and if I’d have had time I’d had made at least 4 of the garments. I’ve already got the Islander Jacket Express pattern traced off (from at least 18 months ago!!) but not gotten round to making it! But time wasn’t on my side so I first off the Amber Trousers.
The trousers were made in time for my hols but due to extremely hot weather I never wore them (the lowest temp through the night was 33 degrees C!!), but I did wear my shades and flip flops in the back garden for the photo shoot to try and get back into the holiday spirit for you. Next time I make them for my hols they’ll be in a cool natural fabric!
I had a rummage in my stash (as you do!) and was chuffed when I found this stable, fine to medium weight jersey. It has slight stretch, and feels like some kind of manmade fabric, and behaves more like a woven when sewn.
I bought 2m a couple of years ago from Fabworks with the idea of making a maxi dress. Obviously the idea never materialised into anything, which can probably said for most of the fabric in my stash. All bought with an idea, which hardly every come to fruition. Well, not to the original idea.
I remember when I was about 8 my school report said for English that I had a vivid imagination. I wasn’t sure what vivid meant, my mum had to explain. Maybe if I didn’t have such a vivid imagination I wouldn’t have such a large fabric stash!
I feel like I’m waffling on a bit here so just reining myself in and getting back to telling you about the pattern I made!
The Amber Trousers
They have a fitted yoke on the back and front. Below the V shaped yoke at the front there are inverted pleats. The are slash pockets either side and the pants close with an invisible zip at the side seam. The are 2 views – a tapered leg and a wide leg. Both styles would made fab shorts and with wide leg would make really cool culottes.
The trousers are sized from 1-10. I like that type of sizing – you HAVE to measure and can’t just assume you know what size you are.
They suggest drapey fabric for the narrow leg version and fabric with more body such as linen for the wide leg version. To be honest there won’t be many fabrics that these couldn’t be successfully sewn in. There’s no mention of a jersey but mine are look fab – I’ll let you know shortly how I changed things to allow for the stretch in the fabric.
The PDF was straightforward to put together. I’ve used loads of different companies for PDF patterns and some have minor alignment problems, but none in this.
When I stuck the PDF together I cut out with wide leg version in size 6 which was just a bit smaller than my waist and just a bit bigger than my hips.
There’s a blog post about how to fit the Amber trousers. It explains how to make a mini muslin just using the yolk. Mine fitted perfect so I just went straight into making the trousers.
Once I had laid my pattern pieces onto the fabric I soon realised making the wide leg version wasn’t going to be an option. The instructions say 2.2m are required for sizes 1-7, and they’re aren’t wrong! I quickly traced the size 6 narrow leg which only took a couple of minutes so no major hold up.
As my fabric was a jersey, albeit stable it had to much and as I didn’t want my breeches to be falling down I used a cotton for the inside yoke pieces.
I applied a lightweight iron on interfacing to all yoke pieces so give extra stablility.
I found the top of the trousers wanted to curl and bunch up so stitched 3 row of top stitching which help.
If I made these in a solid colour I might even experiment and make a feature of the topstitching and continue it all the way down the yoke.
These were a doodle to put together. I’ve made quite a few Yasmin Yoke skirts but have never quite mastered getting a really good finish on the inside of my invisible zip. For the Amber trousers there’s a tutorial on how to insert an invisible zip with a lining which made it so much easier. The only thing I did wrong was to trim the zip tape before I’d finished sewing. As they say in the GBSB, READ the instructions!!
Here’s the outside of the invisible zip (what zip! I can’t see if!), the photo of the inside can be seen above where I showed you the inside yoke pieces.
When I’d finished the trousers, except for the hemming, the hardest thing was to decide on the finished length. They are designed to fit just about the ankle but I played about with a few variations in the length….
Eventually, after them being hung up unfinished for over a week, I decided just to leave them long and hemmed them with a small hem. At least I could still roll them up if needed.
I think I need a shorter photographer. The hubby’s 6ft3 and it looks like he’s looking down on my in the pics!
So far I’ve only worn them with a white plain top. It’s a bit long and covers up the yoke. As I’m not a tucking-in sort of person I need to either shorten this one or see if I can whip up something else and wear it with something that finishes around the height of my waist.
Here’s the front, I love the centre sunny face, such a shame it’s hidden by my top. You never know if I loose a few more pounds I might be wearing cropped tops before the summer’s out!
I’m really pleased with the fit across the back and the front. The yoke really does give a smooth finish and is really flattering.
Will I be making these again??
You bet!
Would I do anything different??
The only thing I will change is to add a centre back seam and zip to the yoke.
When I make my Yasmin Yoke skirts the backs and fronts are completely sewn up and more or less finished, including inserting the back zip. This then allows for basting and tweaking the fit when sewing the front and back togethers at the side seams. It also allows for any future fit alterations if my measurements change.
I’m hoping to get the Southport dress sewn up in the next few days. I started cutting out but the fabric was a really shifty crepe and I’m thinking I’m going to change my mind and use something less challenging in the hope I’ll finish it before the deadline for this pattern bundle.
Just to say as I mentioned earlier I was given the pattern bundle free of charge, but all opinions are my own.
Don’t know about the pattern bundles, or want to know a bit more??
There are two Getaway Capsule bundle options – the basic bundle, and the extended bundle.
Why are there bundles?
Every June, The Monthly Stitch runs an online event called Indie Pattern Month. It’s a great way to encourage everyone to try out new-to-them designers, and celebrate the diversity we have available to us in patterns. During June, there are sewing contests, interviews with designers, and an annual pattern swap.
This year, we wanted to try something different and offer pattern bundles as a way to give people a chance to get a great deal on some patterns, and encourage everyone to try out a variety of designers!
Contains three patterns – the Amber trousers by Paprika Patterns, the Warabi tunic by Waffle Patterns, and the Jacket Express by Islander Sewing Systems.
Regular price for all three patterns is $36 USD. When purchased as a bundle, the three patterns cost only $21 USD, which means you save over 40%.
The extended bundle
Contains six patterns – the three from the basic bundle, and three additional ones.
Patterns included are:
Warabi tunic by Waffle Patterns
Amber trousers by Paprika Patterns
Jacket Express by Islander Sewing Systems
Ute dress by Schnittchen
Southport dress by True Bias
Halter neck swimsuit by Maison Fleur
Regular price for all six patterns is $67 USD. When purchased as a bundle, the six patterns cost only $33 USD – a saving of over 50%
Where does the money go?
The money is split evenly between the designers involved, The Monthly Stitch, and a charity chosen by the designers. For the Getaway Capsule, the charity is Little Sprouts (website: http://littlesproutsnz.org/ ) Little Sprouts are a great charity run completely by volunteers. They provide care packages for families with new babies or small children who need support – people living in poverty, refugees, people fleeing domestic violence, etc. They give the families everything they need for their child – clothing, nappies, safety gear, even cots and buggies when needed, making an immediate difference in the life of the child.
The Monthly Stitch will be using their share of the bundle sale price to move the Monthly Stitch website to a self-hosted platform. This will mean lots more storage space for people to upload photos of their sewing projects, and it will also mean we can implement other community functions, such as forums.
Bundle sale dates
The Getaway Capsule bundles are on sale for two weeks only – the sale will be begin at 00:00 UTC on 23 June, and it finishes at 00:00 UTC on 6 July. Both bundles will be found here during the sale dates: https://themonthlystitch.com/
In other words it’s a photo heavy catch up of what I’ve been up to in May.
Errrm, where do I start?
Almost a whole month without blogging!
It’s not that i’ve lost my sew-jo or blog-jo, or would that be blo-jo, I’ve just been busy getting fit and playing lots of golf. And I feel so much better for it. I’ve lost 12 pounds and 9 inches! Now all I need to do is try and get a balance in my life with my family and everything else I love to do. So I thought I’d do a round up of May incorporating everything I’ve been up to, so really it’s a bit like a big Sunday Sevens. I’ve still been sewing, not quite as intense as usual but the main thing I’ve struggled with is reading all my favourite bloggers’ posts. Hopefully over the next week whilst I’m on holiday I’ll find to catch up – fingers crossed there’ll be wifi.
My Me Mad May effort was poor. Well, it was the photography that was poor. I think next year I’ll set up my tripod near the back door and snap on the way out on a morning.
On work days my SBCC Brooklyn Hoodie was worn.
Polly Top and GBSB Capri pants
Brooklyn Hoodie
Yasmin Yoke skirt and Dimpsy T from Laura after midnight
Dimpsy T and GBSB capri pants
Brooklyn Hoodie and self drafted top
Vogue 8757 pants
Drapey top hack from GBSB book 2
Simplicity 1738
Jasper Cardigan and Lekala Drapy Top
The Spoolettes Mini Meet up……
Not quite as hectic as previous trips we’ve had to Dewsbury, but just as enjoyable. Some new faces too. We met at the Fabbadashery in Halifax, then went for lunch at Cafe Passion which I can highly recommend! Unfortunately I’m struggling with this post as I’m writing it on my iPad so links are such a pain in the butt. Hopefully when I’m back home I’ll be able to fill in more info on the pix. But just to mention, Chrissie one of our new Yorkshire Spoolettes has had one of her quilts she made featured in a book! How cool is that?!
Now to the Sunday Sevens-ish part of the post. I’m a bit gutted I lost my way and missed some Sunday sevens but life’s too short to dwell in that so I’ll just crack on!
H had his final trial. Unfortunately he didn’t make the team this year but he’s taken it on the chin and not gotten disheartened. The main thing I was gutted out was that we won’t be going on tour to Taunton. I was hoping to meet up with SEWCHET who doesn’t live too far away.
Moon the Spoolettes trip I bought fabric to make a small quilt for a baby that was due”. It’s almost finished, and the baby is now overdue! All that’s left to do it make the hand stitched label once I know it’s name and date of birth. In the meantime here’s a sneak peak of what it will…
I joined in a 5k colour run to raise money for our local children’s hospice. A great cause and a great laugh!
Remember shed gate? Well, we now have a shed and the hubby is happy!
A healthy concoction for tea.
A stunning sunset….
Another healthy tea!
View over Halifax from Southowram. I just had to pull over to snap this one. No I wasn’t on a call!
I’ve been helping out with some pattern testing…… More to follow!
Whilst we’ve had some amazing weather in May, we’ve also had some really chilly days too. It’s not deterred me though, I’ve won a trophy comp, Mr Captains day and come second in another comp!
H captain West Yorkshire under 14s against the Yorkshire side he didn’t get in. He played really well, and got 48 runs.
I’ve played a few team matches in the last month. One of the ladies who plays at a local course had to feed the birds. They came out of the bushes as soon as she rattled her box of goddies!
This is a pic of one of the other ladies bags in the same team. We all loved it. She bought it for five pounds at a local charity shop. The hard wear to buy would cost more than that!
Yet another healthy meal. I’m liking black Thai rice- it makes the water go deep purple when you cook it!
Bruised below my waist sutained whilst doing a power hoop session! Great exercise but not something I’d rush back and do, well not before my holiday at least. Not a good look to have wearing a bikini, I’d look like a battered wife!
Well, that it’s for now. Hopefully I’ve passivised my mum. Every time I see her she asked if I’ve done my Sunday sevens yet. With a bit of look there’s not too many typos, our planes about to board so I’m not going to have chance to read back over it!
Slightly earlier than last week’s Sunday Sevens but only just!
I spotted this lady whilst doing a road side stand by at work. It’s not just me that has busy days – at least i usually have time to get dressed before I go out!! I think the onesie craze changed everyone’s view of night wear and it’s seen out and about more and more!
H had a problem with his foot, but luckily big H (my H is little H – or was!!) loves manky feet and had him walking on fresh air in no time! (it’s my sister if anyone’s local and is in need of any foot care, or just a tidy up ready for summer).
Sometimes I just can’t help taking snaps of a suddenly unexpected views – another one from Happy Valley.
And here’s something else unexpected which made me chuckle, this time in Huddersfield – you can just about make the sign out in the bottom right hand window.
The weekend was I think my busiest ever. We had an early start – 12 girls from work – and headed to Grantham to take part in a Tough Mudder – well, half a one – only 5 miles of muddy craziness.
It was smiles and laughs all day, but we didn’t look clean for long! Here’s one of the big walls we have to negotiate.
And here I am contemplating how I’m going to do it.
It only took me 6 attempts! And here i am in action!
We had such a laugh tho and not too many serious injuries, though one is off sick with a nasty finger injury. Luckily I just got away with a few aches and lots of bruises. Great fun and we’re definitely doing it again next year!
I arrived home at 5:30 pm and after a quick shower, well as quick as you can be when your hair needs 4 shampoos!, I was off to Sheffield to watch Bryan Adams in concert. We had to get there early as we were in the hospitality having a posh meal and wine. We missed the starter, I wolfed down the main course and savoured the gorgeous pudding!
Hubby and me, scrubbed up not too badly and a stone lighter than we were 2 weeks ago – he’s on the diet too!
And here’s Bryan, singing his heart out..
Sunday was another busy day. H was in the semi finals of the trials to get into Yorkshire Cricket again, then off to a family do, then back to our cricket club to watch the mens team which H usually plays for on a weekend.
H’s trial went ok and he’s through to the final selection this Sunday, so we’ve everything crossed, Good luck H!!
Monday couldn’t come fast enough – the start of 4 night shifts but after the hectic weekend it was definitely a slow down in pace from what I’d already been up to!
………..Sunday Sevens is the brain child of Natalie from Threads and Bobbins. If you’d like to link up with her too you can – it’s easy! Just share 7 ish photo’s from your week that don’t necessarily warrant a blog post of their own.
I considered doing a double bill this coming Sunday as I’m so late with last weeks’ Sunday Sevens but I thought better of it and here I am.
Monday and Tuesday were non-eventful – I worked. Then Wednesday I met with a few of the Yorkshire Spoolettes in Halifax – separate post to come soon. Thursday I had my first A team match (and won!) ……… the bluebells around the 10th green were in full bloom and smelt gorgeous too.
I resisted steak pie and chips after golf as I was meeting some work buddies and going out for a Chinese in the evening. We’ve decided that we’re going to have night out the first Thursday of the month and celebrate birthdays or just have a night out. We had 4 birthdays last week, including David who was over from America who is mad into horses. Look at this for a birthday cake!
And here we all are………
I was driving at I’d arranged to attend a Atrial Fibrillation study day in Leeds so needed a clear head. It was at the Thackray Medical Museum. We didn’t get chance to look round but in the entrance was a pull along invalid carriage.
Friday night we went to watch my nephew play one of the main parts in ‘Fame’ at the Victoria Theatre in Halifax. He was brilliant, and it’s still a mystery where he get’s his singing talent from!
The weekend was a scorcher. H had cricket matches both day, playing for the Senior team. On Saturday although I did watch a lot of the game I also topped up my tan and was even heard snoring!! The shame!!
Sunday we travelled to Cawthorn in South Yorkshire, a small well kept village near Cannon Hall Farm.
There was stunning blossom trees everywhere….
After we had had a walk around the village we went back to the cricket pavilion for the start of the game. I fell of the band wagon for the diet and couldn’t resist a cream scone. I’d tucked in before I remembered to take a photo!
As part of my health kick (have i mentioned I’ve lost 8 pounds since returning from Portugal!!!!) I been taking my meals to work and to cricket. Here’s my super duper salad I munched through whilst watching the game……
That’s one of the main reasons for my radio silence on the blog. My major health kick. I’ve been going to the gym, planning meals, working more days due to shorter shifts and now the cricket season’s in full swing I’m struggling to find time to sew and blog.
But hopefully over the next few days I’ll catch up with things – I think I’m sounding like an old record, you’ve probably heard me say it on previous posts. But as you know sewing and blogging can be all too time consuming and it’s the first thing to give (in my case) when other things are vying for my time!
………..Sunday Sevens is the brain child of Natalie from Threads and Bobbins. If you’d like to link up with her too you can – it’s easy! Just share 7 ish photo’s from your week that don’t necessarily warrant a blog post of their own.
Here’s my Sunday Sevens – a few photos from my last week, linking in with Natalie from Threads and Bobbins, and all the other lovely Sunday Seveners.
A little bit late I’m afraid but I thought I’d best update my blog otherwise those of you who read regularly might think I’ve done a Shirley Valentine and stayed in Portugal!
Here we are then, if even you thought golf was boring and didn’t fancy it, read on…. it might be a good walk spoilt to some but it’s also a great excuse to jump on a plane for some sunshine!
The view from our apartment on the first morning…….
the view from inside reception as we waited for our minibus to take us to the golf course.
I won on the first day! The winner had to wear pink deely boppers for the whole evening and at breakfast the next morning. I didn’t have to wear the doggy eye covers though!
Helen sadly came last on the first day and had to wear the golf ball deely boppers! We did get quite a few comments and most people thought we were away on my hen do! (note the trousers have remained ankle length for now).
Another day another game of golf in glorious sunshine. We were so lucky – the weather wasn’t half as nice the week before.
We had a presentation night each evening and there was always surprises – one night Helen presented one of the ladies with some L plates as she’d never ridden a buggy before.
As well as playing lots of golf we ate the most amazing fish dishes…..
And sang Karaoke…….
Mags was our overall winner of the week. Helen had devised various comps which we were awarded points for. I didn’t get very many. Although I won on the first day, as the nights got later the scores at golf got worse, but luckily I managed to avoid wearing the losers deely boppers.
We came home Thursday. Friday morning I woke up to 3 inch of snow and no voice. When I say no voice, I could just about manage a squeak and a whisper!
The snow didn’t last long, thank goodness. As Sunday Sevens wouldn’t be the same without an sunset, here’s Friday night whilst I was out for a walk. I couldn’t get one whilst in Portual – I heard they were amazing but the pubs were all facing the wrong way!
So ladies, if you fancy joining us on a next trip you’ve a year to learn how to play golf!!
I’m being prepared and writing my Sunday Sevens on Friday night with a glass of wine. I’m all packed up, except for my making bag and setting off to the airport at 5:30 in the morning. So I’m hoping this scheduling lark will work and it’s Sunday when you’re reading this.
The week started with our first works Golf Day, which also happened to be Captain’s Day. For some crazy unknown reason I took no photos, which is really stupid as I’m captain so should at least have had one of me presenting the trophy to the winner.
Tuesday was the high light of my week. Already told you all about it but still worth another mention!
Wednesday before work at 4pm I had my hair “done”!
Bit of a lovely sunset going on Wednesday evening.
I toyed with the idea or shortening some wide leg pants and love the result – hopefully will have a pic of them being worn for you next week.
Had my nails done all sparkly ready for my hols. It’s a real treat having my finger nail done at we’re not allowed to wear nail polish at work.
We’ve had lots of sunshine this week, and I managed an hour laid out in the garden, and had company.
A slight alteration needed on one of my old favourite golf sports. Excuse the black underneath – its my cossie, I’d been trying on all my holiday clothes!
Golf clubs cleaned!
Resurrected some lasagne from the freezer with some passata, After 40 minutes in a hot oven the hubby thought I’d been very busy cooking his favourite tea!
An absolute ***** of a delivery man dropped off our new garden shed. It’s a good job I wasn’t planning on going anywhere!! It’s also damaged, we fell out, and I called him a w****r. I know not very lady like, but I was so mad (and I don’t get mad very often!!)
But now I’m chilled, hubby and H have moved the shed, though he’s told the company they can come back and pick it up on Monday and he wants his money back! He’s not a happy hubby!!
Swiftly moving on………

Gosh, this was a really tough one for me. I’d had to go back to 2011 in my photos to find some ‘reflection’ photos. These were taken at Harewood House in North Yorkshire. Definitely worth a visit if you’re ever in the area.
Just a quickie, I’m playing catch in in advance of everything before I go on my holidays in the morning! Sorry, I don’t mean to rub it in, but that’s my excuse for this being short and sweet.
Our next Spoolettes meet up is on Wednesday 4th May in Halifax.
We’ll meet around 11am at Cafe Passion and drink coffee and say our ‘Hellos’
12 noon we’ll head to The Fabbadasheryto swoon over their fabric and all the other goodies dotted around. There’s also a large table which they use for their classes.
It will be free so we can sit and natter. Bring a bit or crochet or hand sewing, or just yourself!
Whenever we’re ready we’ll head back to Cafe Passion for a bit to eat. I should imagine that will be around 1:30-2pm.
It will be an easy going afternoon, a little shopping, nattering, and generally catching up and talking all thing sewing.
